Iranian hero pilot gets cold shoulder
http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/iranian-hero-pilot-gets-cold-shoulder/2011/10/29/gIQAffIbSM_story.html

TEHRAN — An Iranian pilot whose spectacular emergency landing was captured on video will not be allowed to fly a plane for two months, the Fars news agency reported Saturday.

The video shows the Iran Air flight slowly approaching Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport on Oct. 18 with its nose landing gear jammed. As rescue workers prepared for the worst, Capt. Hooshang Shahbazi balanced the plane using only the landing gear under the wings until it came to a stop.

One thing that totalitarian regimes never, ever seem to get is how stupid they look when even the admittance of an already public mistake is covered up. The rational thing to do would of course be to commend the pilot, blame the west for the embargo which endagers their public etc.

But in stead, the best thing they can come up with is this.

1. Wapo quoting an anti-government newspaper.
Yeah, I'll take this with a grain of salt.

2. I have no problem believing this. It is typical behaviour from totalitarian regimes.

3. Really? You must have reems of documentation to back that up.
Sounds like more propaganda from our own totalitarian regime.

4. I gave a perfectly reasonable explanation as to why I believe this is plausible.

Why would you even want to have an argument about something like this?

The Iranian opposition is not famous for being a CIA operation or anything like that. You can´t just demand documentation from anyone posting a news story on DU.

I have better things to do with my time.

I see no evidence of an explaination anywhere in your post.
