3. We mustn't forget that Gov. Walker was thinking about sending in "trouble makers"
...during union demonstrations in Madison.

During a prank phone call in which he believed he was talking to billionaire philanthropist David Koch, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker admitted that state authorities had “thought about” using troublemakers to infiltrate the crowds demonstrating against his effort to eliminate collective bargaining rights, proving once again that the use of agent provocateurs to discredit legitimate protesters is a common political ploy.

The prank call was made by Ian Murphy, a reporter from the Buffalo Beast, who phoned Walker’s office pretending to be David Koch, a deep-pocketed political ally of Walker. Having believed Murphy’s claim that he couldn’t provide a number for Walker’s office to call him back on because his maid had put his cell phone in the laundry, Murphy was told to call back at a later time and subsequently spoke with Walker for 20 minutes about the situation in Wisconsin, with Walker firmly believing that he was speaking to David Koch.

However, the media completely failed to pick up on the most shocking part of the call, when at 14 minutes 25 seconds in, Walker admits that his office “thought about” planting troublemakers amidst the demonstrators as a means of discrediting them in the eyes of the public.

“But what we were thinking about the crowds was planting some troublemakers,” states Murphy posing as Koch, to which Walker responds, “You know, the problem was, because we thought about that,” before going on to explain that such a move wasn’t necessary because the public was already largely in opposition to the union demonstrators.

4. No, they didn't 'fail' to pick up on it. They *succeeded* in keeping it quiet. (nt)

7. thank the ACLU for that recording
this was from a 2006 lawsuit

During discovery on the way to court, the ACLU was given recorded testimony of then Captain Howard Jordan, who explained to the police board of review how the department could improve its long-term intelligence gathering.

Mr. HOWARD JORDAN (Former Captain, Oakland Police Force): It's not that difficult. San Francisco does it, Seattle - a lot of large agencies do it, and we need to make sure that the next time something like this happens that we're way ahead of the curve. We're in there…

GONZALES: Jordan testified that his officers were not only in there at the port of Oakland protests, they were actually influencing the group's actions.

Mr. JORDAN: You don't need to have some special skill to be able to infiltrate these groups. You know, two of our officers were elected leaders in an hour on May 12 - being with that group. So if you put people in there from the beginning, I think we'd be able to gather the information and maybe even direct them to do something that we want them to do.

GONZALES: In a subsequent legal deposition, Captain Jordan - who is now the deputy chief of police - said that the two Oakland undercover police officers were elected by the protestors to plan the route of the march and decide where it would end up. Jordan was unavailable for comment, but a spokesman for the Mayor's Office said new guidelines prohibit this kind of undercover work.

10. As an Oakland homeowner this makes me feel safer.
I sure am happy to see our "heroes in blue" doing something significant seeing as how they don't answer or investigate residential crimes these days. Its reassuring to see something like this on the eve a special election with a proposition for a parcel tax to supplement funds police services. I will do my best to make sure all of my local neighbors and friends see this video
It is of course especially gratifying to hear a very good example of what makes interim chief Jordan such an incredible repeat interim chief.

(do I really need to post the sarcasm emoticon?)
