Fixing The Economy - Email I Received
Edited on Tue Jan-18-11 11:12 AM by WiffenPoof
Has anyone else received this in an email recently???
--------------

Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy.

Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the "Patriotic Retirement Plan":

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force.
Pay them $1 million apiece severance with no taxes due on it, for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new AMERICAN Car. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members in Congress pay their taxes..

Mr. President, while you're at it, make Congress retire on Social Security and Medicare. I'll bet both programs would be fixed pronto!

If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know.

If not, please disregard.

1. Didn't I delete this Email several times already?
1) I'm recently retired. Do I get nothing?
2) I have a good car I like. I don't see why I need to pay more for insurance because I'm forced to buy a new car.
3) I'm living in a house with the mortgage paid off now. What about us?

No!
Do you really want to fix the economy? Get our Living Wage Jobs back into this country. Get our manufacturing jobs back in this country. Without living wage jobs we can't recover - ever.

2. Did they say where they would get the $40 trillion
from to pay for this? That's nearly 3 times the national debt.

3. Haw-haw, the Baby Boomers want $1,000,000 tax free from the Government.
All of our problems are so simple and should have been fixed already. :eyes:

4. Hey...Look, I Don't Support This...
I merely thought it was humorous and wondered if others had received it.

5. Like most chian letters it is stupid
$1 mil * 40 million = $40 trillion.
Current national debt (for first 200+ years of the country) is $14T.
