The Price is Right, Bob Barker, and Fur Coats
I watch Price is Right every morning. It was a habit that started as a home schooler with a grandmother in the home. Every morning I'd start my lessons, then take a break at 11 am to watch with grandma. My morning habits haven't changed that much and I make it a point to sit down and watch whenever I get the chance.

I was not happy when they picked Drew Carey to replace Mr. Barker, and indeed he's not the personality that Barker was. The show is still loud and glitzy, however Drew Carey just directs the games and doesn't make it such an interactive experience. It dampens my enjoyment of the show, but I keep watching because I feel like it's a part of my life. However as I watched this morning I saw them give away a pair of fur coats which ranged in a $2000 area. I don't remember them giving away cruel prizes like this before Carey, since Bob Barker is such a proponent for animal rights. I am wondering if now that they have a less ideological host (Carey is an open republican), if the show will begin to feature pro-cruelty prizes like this more often. Did anything like this slip through when Barker was in charge? I looked it up and it seems that a show from 2009 was pulled for containing a fur coat, but I believe Carey was in charge then.

I am not pleased about this at all.

1. actually for a pair of fur coats $2000 sounds low
they may have been fake fur.

12. I really don't know the price of fur, I'm glad this was cheap enough to be questionable

they did introduce them as fur though. I hope it was just a misnomer.

Thanks for your input! :hi:

2. Way back when they did give away fur coats
then Bob Barker insisted that they stop it. I guess Carey isn't as much of an animal-rights activist as Barker is. Pity.

6. That's right!
I'm only old enough to remember some reruns of Truth or Consequences on Saturdays when I was a wee boy. Silver City, NM, a city near my childhood home, renamed itself Truth or Consequences to win a contest that was part of the show.

8. rew Carey has been a suporter of Republicans for a long time
which is probably why he's stuck on TPIR.

18. I think that if I see another "fur" coat I will probably cease my viewing
I know several people have said that was too cheap for a fur coat and I hope they're right, however they introduced the coats as fur and I just can't abide that. If it's fake, they need to stress the fact that they were cruelty free, and so far as I saw there was no talk about it being fake.
