Occupy Wall Street Marchers Take Part In Ghoulish Village Halloween Parade
All things spooky and bizarre are on full display tonight as the 39th annual Village Halloween Parade marches up Sixth Avenue.

<snip>

The unique aspect of course is that anyone can participate, as long as they are in costume.

<snip>

Some activists and artists have formed a group they call "Occupy Halloween," to bring messages from the ongoing economic Occupy Wall Street protests into the West Village event.

Halloween: It’s spooky on the streets
About 200 Occupy Wall Street demonstrators joined the marchers, wearing costumes that reflect their protest. One dressed as a pink slip, another a budget axe. They carried signs that read “Stop the vampire economy” and “Foreclosure is scary”.

Producing director Jeanne Fleming says it's not unusual for the parade to touch on current events. She says it's a microcosm of what's going on in the world or in the city.

I tried to watch the parade after work but it was too crowded to see anything. When I got home I saw some great shots of the OWS group on the news. They carried a big banner that said OCCUPY (can't remember if it had anything after that word) and a lot of great costumes that were OWS and other political issues related. Haven't found any good pics on line. Was hoping to find video on the local news' website.
