Man found dead in tent during Occupy Okla. City protest; police say death not suspicious
OKLAHOMA CITY — Police say a man has been found dead inside his tent at a protest at a park in downtown Oklahoma City.

Police Lt. Kevin Barnes says the death isn’t considered suspicious, but authorities have not determined how the man died. Barnes says someone called 911 about 2:40 p.m. Monday after he was found dead inside his tent at Kerr Park.

Protesters have been camped for several weeks at the park as part of an Occupy OKC event coordinated with similar Wall Street protests around the country.

6. thanks
Have actually been here for 7 years but didn't post because of all the crappy people who seem to just look for little things to fight about. Always demanding political correctness from others but not themselves. I've read almost every post that has gone through here in that time. Using DU to fill my hope chest you might say, as I worry about the world. I probably won't stay long as a poster because the flaming is so constant, but I guess we will see.:hi:

10. reading since 04 every single day
like I said. But unlike many keyboarders here, I will be occupying OWS in person with my ass on the cold hard ground. Then I will be occupying locally because I don't just read this, I do, too.

and again, you prove my point so very well.

17. Well looking forwards to your reports of your efforts
Here is a minimum friendly checklist n

Your permit to occupy...you don't have one, go get a portable paper copy of the constitution. Mine resides in jacket I take now.

A camera. Personally I do not recommend a high end one, but take one anyway

Notebook and pen/ pencil

Oh realize cop is not attached to badge, so if you see...well police misconduct...get the actual name.

Some food bars or 'thing so you do not take from limited supplies.

Something they need.

Oh and goes without saying...talk and LISTEN you will learn.

Thank you if truly so. I wish I had a smidgen of the patience and restraint you have shown over those Seven Epic Years.

But with so many homeless people joining the Occupy groups, this was bound to happen.

9. People die. They don't always get to select the time or place. And it
isn't always due to some nefarious scheme.

18. This could be construed by some to suggest dark and mysterious surroundings
to the untimely demise.

20. And that is what I said in response #9. People die. They don't always get
to pick the time and place. There is not always a nefarious plot involved in the death.

But you took offense with this because it was not a sycophant posting it.

And then claiming otherwise. If you object so much use ignore poster. It will make your life that much easier.

Neither I, or WAPO, implied nefariousness.

12. How do they know it's not suspicious if they haven't determined how he died?
Given the speech he gave one can make guesses - and he was homeless so along with that could come any number of health problems. In any event, sad news, and may he rest in peace.

16. cuz you can rule out a suspicious death when it's apparnet natural
the exact cause of death may never be known, depending an autopsy. I've seen plenty of deaths when it's natural, but an autopsy is not completed, because it is an natural. Autopsies cost money and resources should be spent on suspicious deaths.
