If you are accused of sexual harassment, BLAME YO-SELF! |

If you are the one in the hot seat at the next debate, BLAME YO-SELF!
If the GOP powers-that-be decide you are not the one they want, BLAME YO-SELF!
If you drop out of first place and then sink like the Titanic, BLAME YO-SELF!
If your lucrative speaking engagements get cancelled and you end up broke, BLAME YO-SELF!

course, if you are a woman, and you get pregnant, being a sexual being is optional. something you need to control.

4. i could play the guy role. it isn't hard. self centered without thought to others. |
|
even without testosterone, it would not be a challenge at all.
i would be a ho, then
my hubby would be hurt
but it really is nothing special and i am damn tired of media, society and culture making it special

Personal responsibility and all. Throw that man some bootstraps, let him learn to sink or swim, tell him to look in the mirror, and put on his big boy pants. Remind him he's a Republican.

6. Every Guy gets to ask once |

After that it can become sexual harassment.
However if the advance was indeed welcomed and she says no on the first and only offer. (to be hard to get or whatever) she has no right to be offended if he asks another more willing Woman.
Men are Simple. Oxygen, Food, Water and Sex are all the same needed sustenance of life.
A Man could Happily live under a tree if he were getting laid.

Besides, no... this is not something anyone 'gets' to do at work.
It is not too much to expect adults to have an understanding of what is and is not appropriate behavior at work or at work functions.

11. There's a difference between policy violations and harassment. |
|
Any company can ban employees from fraternizing, which would make "asking" a disciplinary action in that company. It doesn't make it harassment though. In order to be harassment, it has to be unwelcome, and establishing un-welcomeness means that you either need to tell the ENTIRE OFFICE that you aren't interested all at once (not very professional), or you need to say "no thanks" when someone asks.
It's only harassment when they express interest, you reject it, and they continue to press. No means no, but you do have to make that NO clear.
And, for what it's worth, I know quite a few people who are married to spouses they met at work. Dating a co-worker is a very common thing.

14. This guy wasn't "asking" women for a date... so that's a red herring anyway. |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-01-11 12:27 PM by redqueen
He was asking questions about these women which were entirely inappropriate in any workplace. Hence the cash settlement and agreement to keep quiet about details.
If a man is going around hitting on lots of women, even if he does it only once, that can be construed as creating a hostile work environment. It isn't so cut and dry as "every guy gets to ask once" (ugh).
Yes, dating co-workers is common. Not sure how that is germane to this discussion, though.

There's a whole range of stuff that's harassment the first time you ask.
I can't think of a single sexual harassment case that I've read about that involved a guy asking a woman out for coffee or something. The kind of guy that's willing to keep pushing is one that isn't particularly interested in or even capable of recognizing boundaries, so they tend to go straight to making the work environment as hostile as possible.

Turning a man's own words back on him! Have you no shame whatsoever? Don't you know how hurtful it is to Herman Cain to have his own rhetoric thrown back in his face like that? Where is your humanity? Self-righteousness, smugness and condescension are to be used only against the have-nots, not against wealthy parasites.

I myself have been accused of sexual assault.
I have so much respect for women. In fact, possibly too much as I am in a "perpetual friend zone.". I speak out against sexism, am a part of NOW, and do everything I can to help my friend's (alot of which are female).
When this accusation arose, I was at first ostracized, then when people stopped to think about it, they realized "wait, this is him we are talking about, no way"
Because of my beliefs, I even DID blame myself for awhile, which led to alot of self destructive behavior. I punished myself for something I did not do for months. It destroyed a part of me and took me a long time to realize she was using me as a weapon against her ex.
Now all accusations must be taken seriously, however, false accusations do happen by crazy people

16. i dont understand why you would question yourself |
|
we all have within us the ability to knowledge of authenticity that would allow you to know that you did nothing and at the least, express that there was no intent to do wrong.
bringing you to the realization much quicker that the issue was about the woman.
i dont put any gender on pedestal, nor believe any gender is all good or bad with the knowledge and understanding there are users of both genders. i am skeptical with any story

and she claimed that he positioned his body in such a way, that she had to rub up against his body,to get through the hallway. He was a broke man after this, ended up leaving the job...he was never the same..
