Kyrgyzstan's new president wants to shut US air base
Kyrgyzstan's president-elect has announced he wants to close a key US airbase in the country.

Almazbek Atambayev, the declared winner of last Sunday's presidential election, has wasted little time in saying he wants the US base in Kyrgyzstan to close when its lease expires in 2014.

The airfield is an important transport hub for American forces heading into and out of Afghanistan.

Mr Atambayev, the country's current prime minister, says he's worried a country hostile to the US may attack the base.

1. Close all the bases in all the -stan suffixed countries, and bring the troops home.
They will lose salaries of all the local civilians employed there. Lose the lease payment. Lose any monies that the troops spend locally. And the troops will be home.

2. Eventually, I'll bet a lot more country's will follow this path.
The US aid $ might not overcome a country's hostility to having foreign troops billeted on their soil...especially a world where there are no nation-states at war to compel a security arrangement. We'll probably be expanding our aircraft carrier assets so we can park them in international waters throughout the world as our foothold in various countries get reduced.

4. So, who will replace him after his impending fatal accident?
If you have read The Grand Chessboard, which Brzezinski wrote quite a few years ago, you will recognize it as our now current foreign policy plan, where the 'stans play a very vital role in keeping Russia
blocked from accessing "our" oil and oil routes in that area.
No way will the oil-garchs let go of that base.
Suggestion: keep your eye on all news about Kyrgyzstan and surrounding area and watch as the counter plan is put into place.
The most obvious will be a bunch of "terrorists" suddenly popping up in the area.
