I have to say, though, it brought out the cockroaches.
I obviously knew that a fair amount of racism still existed in this country, but I am still shocked at it's expanse.

This does not mean that his election was anything but a victory of rationality over hatred and stupidity.
The inevitable racist reaction was relatively predictable.
On balance, I think it is a good thing, and may have improved many aspects of race relations....i.e. providing a role model for many who might not have ever seen a black person as a person who could be President. On an individual basis, I doubt that anyone who had a problem dealing with Afro-Americans before, has now changed their outlook.
