BEND, Ore. (AP) -- An injured Oregon eagle that was revived by a Bend veterinarian last summer with mouth-to-beak resuscitation has been nursed back to health.

The Bulletin reports ( http://bit.ly/vhSgpr ) the eagle named Patriot will never fly again because of the injuries suffered when he was hit by a car.

He will have a permanent home at the Blue Mountain Wildlife Center in Pendleton.

Patriot is having a graduation party Friday at the Sunriver Nature Center in Bend.

1. our zoo has a bunch of bald eagle that will never fly again due to injury. they're amazing to watch.
while in some instances, it's painful to see a wild animal confined to a zoo, for these birds, it's a great alternative to certain death in the wild...

2. That's great.
The first bald eagle I ever saw up close was in a zoo. He had been injured and would never be released in the wild.

Now about that vet- how brave is that. Suppose the eagle came to and the vet was left without lips. OOOOHHH!

BTW I gave mouth to mouth to a new born kid goat- sadly it did not work- she was just beautiful.

4. Awesome.
Could have been worse. Could have been a California condor. They're carrion eaters--who barf when they're frightened.
