BOB WOODWARD: 'White House has a secret plan to win the election and it's complex and it's secret'
Generation's Greatest Reporter Drops Bombshell Exclusive
11/01/2011 by Peter Hart
NBC's Chris Matthews Show (10/30/11):

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Welcome back. Bob, tell me something I don't know.

BOB WOODWARD: That the White House has a secret plan to win the election and it's complex and it's secret, but it--look, Barack Obama wants to win so badly, as I understand it, everything in the White House is driven by the election and that level of commitment will take them to a point where he's going to show some leg in a way that people are going to say, wow, he really wants the job and this emotional connection could take place.

MATTHEWS: Wow. I do--I am impressed by that.

8. A better economy? The end of Citizens United? End school testing?
Extend Medicare to people in their 50s? Get rid of corruption in the military-industrial complex? Shorten prison terms for drug offenders? Avoid cuts to Social Security and Medicare?

Dream on.

9. I am dreading this election season...
...because I fear that we'll hear empty promises, soaring rhetoric and false hope. Been there.

I spent the last presidential campaign working my ass off--only to be disappointed in Obama.

If I have to spend the next several months hearing a rerun of campaign 2008--after three years of
watching the corporations take over our democracy--while Obama plays along and did nothing to stop it--I'll
have to turn off the television.

I don't want to hear words. I want to see action. At the very least, I'd like to hear Obama
discuss how corporate influence and money runs D.C. He won't even address it because he's
sucked in and is a part of the problem.

18. I don't agree, and I'm sure I'll be flamed, BUT...
A couple of months before Citizens United, Obama gave a speech warning of its pending outcome, and he was passionate and
really agitated about it.

I'm one who believes that the second term frees up presidents -- especially the first Af-Am president -- to just go to
town and do the things he truly WANTS to do and kick some asses ...

Just one woman's opinion ...

Flame away ...

19. I Totally Agree With You......
it is unrealistic for us to think that he'd get everything done in 4 years - especially because of the shambles BushCo left this country in. Let the gloves come off. We need to give Obama a second term and we need to help him out as much as possible in Congress. We need to win back the House and maintain the Senate. Then they need to remove the filibuster in the Senate and things will get done like never before. This would set the tone for another Dem President in 2016. My hope is that it is Hillary.

32. I won't flame you...
...because I respect your views and I admire your optimism.

I have nothing against Obama personally. I was a precinct captain for him in 2008.

I look at this as a business relationship. We hired Obama. He didn't do what he
said that he would do.

Eisenhower warned our nation of the military-industrial complex--and he warned us
that corporate power inside of government could destroy democracy. Now, that those
things have happened--we have no leaders--and certainly not our President--sounding
alarms or even addressing the fact that corporations own our government and our
politicians.

Seems obvious to me that Obama either has no desire to stop this corruption OR he
lacks the power to do so.

Our political system has failed us. It's not Obama. It's our entire government.

I do appreciate your optimism and I think as all of this unfolds--we'll all need
each other to completely change the corruption.

40. I wish someone would kick
Harry Reid's ass and that of Max Baucus. They're a huge stumbling block to overcome. Don't get me wrong. I don't hate bluedogs and I understand that more liberal folks would have a hard time getting elected in their states. But having one as head of the senate who keeps appointing the other one to impt committees is just pissing me off. And it stalls our agenda.

I agree completely about second terms. :hi:

26. Nixon's "secret plan" to end the war was to expand it secretly (and illegally) into
Cambodia. The illegal bombing of Cambodia constituted one of the draft articles of impeachment against Nixon considered by the House Judiciary Committee. IIRC, Nixon resigned before the Committtee took final votes on any of the proposed Articles of Impeachment for consideration by the full House. Memories grow a bit hazy with age.

Because of his CIA connections, natch. They have the White House thoroughly infiltrated, I'm sure.

Either that, or he's doing a "cold reading." You know--making up shit that sounds like it actually means something. Can you imagine that Obama DOESN'T have a secret plan?

Fake psychics often convince their marks of their powers by doing "cold readings." They say things like,

"You are much more sensitive than most people realize."

There is someone on The Other Side whom you miss very much."

"You have some secret dreams and hopes that you haven't been able to tell others about."

And the mark goes, "Wow, how could (s)he know so much about me??11?

with presidential politics was 1968, when Nixon said he had a 'secret plan' to win the war in Vietnam. We all know how that one turned out.

This morning Woodward was on Joe Scarbrow defending Cain for yelling at reporters asking about the sexual assault allegations!!
