Make a note to shop at the stores that close in solidarity.
Mens' Wearhouse -- Number 1 on my list.

Edited on Wed Nov-02-11 12:21 PM by LanternWaste
I imagine one may rent the tux at another store which doesn't involve itself in solidarity of workers...

Unless of course Mens Warehouse is the only store in Oakland that rents tuxedos.

26. The problem would be picking one up that was altered for you
I believe that you can drop off a rental at any Mens Wearhouse store.

This convenience is one of their competitive advantages, compared with a local formal wear shop.

They also have a "preferred relationship" with David's Bridal.

How many people indeed and in fact is this affecting?

Or do we simply use hypothetical scenarios (of which, we consistently add qualifiers after the fact) when we have nothing else...?

15. Small if you think that 1,239 stores, $2.1 B annual revenue is small
Founded in 1973, Men’s Wearhouse is one of North America's largest specialty retailers of men's apparel with 1,239 stores. The Men’s Wearhouse, Moores and K&G stores carry a full selection of designer, brand name and private label suits, sport coats, furnishings and accessories and Men’s Wearhouse and Tux stores carry a limited selection. Tuxedo rentals are available in the Men’s Wearhouse, Moores and Men’s Wearhouse and Tux stores. Additionally, Men’s Wearhouse operates a global corporate apparel and workwear group consisting of TwinHill in the United States and Dimensions and Alexandra in the United Kingdom.

25. Per their SEC 10-K, it looks like they operate all the stores themselves
The real estate is probably leased, since they target location in regional and strip malls in middle to upper income areas.

They have 16,600 employees, of which 11,800 are full-time.

All merchandize seems to transit their main distribution hub in Houston and is distributed through their own distribution network or through a contracted carrier.

http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=109554&p=irol-sec

They are to local mens wear and formal wear stores as Home Depot is to local hardware/lumber stores.

10. I buy clothes at that store, the staff are great mostly Oaklanders.
George Zimmer, owner of Men's Wearhouse, has a house about half a mile from my house. He's a stand up guy as they used to say. He's done lots of good deeds on the QT.

of course he used to be one of the few people wearing a suit and tie at A's games but 'you got to display the merchandise'.

buying suits was usually fun.

but it makes Mens Wearhouse' solidarity all that much more impressive, since the occupy people are not "suits", generally speaking.

Here's the part where you dismiss it as being done by agent provocateurs. No evidence needed. Just assert it.

They may claim to stand with the 99%, but if we're their target customers they're still doing it wrong.

Edit: typo
