The anti-Occupy PR is at full throttle... |

They have shot, gassed, and beat a few protestors but that doesn't seem to work? They keep coming back. They take away their generators, their only source for heat in this cold weather.
They call them dirty hippies that should get a job. They bring on the usual suspects to denounce the movement on television. They are slow and methodical. This is the way they fight. They use the media to their advantage to discredit the movement.
How do you fight that? What can you do to keep the attention away from the squirrels?

1. The good thing is that this movement has no leader to attack. They really don't know how to destroy |
|
this movement. They can't. The weather might prove a problem, but that's all.

2. First off, turn off Fox. Then go read the Bill Moyers article and spread that around. |

They can try to do all kinds of things. But they can't turn off the 99% any more than they can turn off a hurricane. I've turned my facebook page into a 99% microphone. At least a third of my "friends" are repubs I went to high school with. They are getting the message till they hide me or unfriend me.

3. Simplest way to fight back is to continue using the |
|
Internet for our news content. Don't help them out by watching their TV shows.
And to keep remembering - We are the 99% !!!

4. It makes me feel that there is organized disinformation. |
|
I also wonder how much of this is real, or whether some of it is computer generated.
Propaganda in the modern age. Ain't it grand?

5. They have not yet begun to fight.. |
|
It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better, I anticipate floods of agents provocateur inciting violence.
The thing that will offset it is video, the government has already moved against Youtube for hosting videos showing police brutality it will do so ever more strongly as protests mount and police violence increases.

7. DU may need a way to host videos on its own -- they will definitely clamp down |
|
...when too much "real news" starts getting out there, as shit hits fan, etc.
That, or we'll have to be emailing .wmv files to each other... (or maybe start using Vimeo more?)

8. Already too much is getting out.. |
|
There's no doubt in my mind that devious minds are scrambling to come up with a way to block the direct dissemination of this stuff without killing the internet in the process.

Go look up the number of viewers these shows you watch actually have. Compare to the US population. Compare to the millions it takes to keep a network show going. How do you fight that? Oh, the wail! How do you 'fight' a show that gets 600,000 viewers? You don't bother, that's how. The simpering amuses me. Imagine engaging in decades of activism in which the other side says God dislikes you and Sanctifies them and such nonsense. Dirty hippies? Dude, Obama employed surrogates who called gay people child killers, and that was presented as 'just politics'. So name calling should not cause panic. It should cause laughter. If the GLBT community buckled from name calling and bad press, we'd have gotten nowhere instead of somewhere. First lesson I offer is stop calling the broadcast news media 'THE media'. It is a niche bit of the media. The least trusted, least used bit of the media, in fact.
