3. Yes our country is fine with hoarding "personal monopolies" for some illogical reason.
Yet, in theory we are not fine with corporate monopolies. But we are OK with CEO's having personal monopolies especially if they hide behind the umbrella of a corporation.

35. However, Scrooge McDuck was always mocked in the cartoons...
and he was the prototypical money hoarder, probably modeled on Rockefeller.

7. the truth
people hoard because of a sense of insecurity...

http://understanding_ocd.tripod.com/hoarding1_why.html

The following reasons of why people Hoard...

SENTIMENTAL VALUE...for the person that Hoards, the usefulness and/or value may lay in the most unexpected things...This value is also about feeling the item is part of "you", not just an independent object.

DECISION MAKING...Those with Hoarding Behavior find it extremely difficult to make decisions, and end up avoiding having to make any by keeping everything.

ORGANIZING...difficulty with knowing how to organize objects,... may very well be the only way he can sense some control and order...

RESPONSIBILITY... a tendency for people to feel Hyper- Responsible for what is happening around them...

CONTROL/PERFECTION...when you throw something away, it's gone and you will never be able to find this item again.

SCARED OF FORGETTING/PERFECTION...the inability to accept that he can't be in total control...

LETTING GO OF THINGS...the fear of letting go, of moving on.
Letting go of things in life is so needed if we want to experience some sense of freedom

19. What's wrong
with living w/ a bunch of cats?

But I get your point...I would just prefer a different example. Like...maybe the dude should live w/ the cats and the woman should have the newspapers.

I get very, very tired of gender stereotyping. But maybe this B. Lester is pre-1960's before the Women's Movement....of course now, one would never know it occurred.

29. No, they are doing God's work.
God gave them all their money because they are soooo deserving of his special attentions.

Jesus doesn't mind that they steal their money from the poor. He doesn't mind that they get their money through cons and boughten politicians.
:sarcasm:
I guess God gave the cat lady her cats and the newspaper hoarder his newspapers too.
