Murdoch's propaganda channel took a hit at the oncologist's office this morning.
I went in for my annual test and was sitting in the waiting room looking at a magazine. The television was set to ESPN and I wasn't really attending to it. Several other people came in and sat down. This one woman and her husband kept a running patter of largely nosy questions. After a while, she offered that if she were a little taller she would change the channel to FOX. No one offered to do this for her. After a bit, she stood on a little side table and changed it. Then she turned around and asked if people minded. We all looked at one another. She asked another couple if they watched FOX, and the husband told her that it was "too Republican" for them. No one changed the channel back, but she spent a great deal of time making remarks to justify watching FOX. There was no mistaking the glances between others in the waiting room or her increasing twitchiness at not having someone to engage in FOX-type snark with. It was worth dealing with a few minutes of Kilby & crew just to observe the dynamics in the room.

1. It's FauxNews in every waiting room I've ever been in.
Doctor's office, hospital, clinic, jury duty etc., etc.

It's as if the people in charge of the TV

are on a mission from God.

5. You would have been highly entertained if I had been there...
I would make no bones about answering the woman, "I refuse to watch hatemongers and liars... please leave the TV as is," or complaining to management... or walking out.

The older I get, the less patience I have for stupidity.

6. I would have told her I minded.
I was went to a restaurant last week with husband and friends and fox was on tv. I asked the waitress to please change the channel, even though the sound was off, I explained that I would not be able to enjoy my meal with that in the background. No one else in the restaurant was watching it. She looked surprised but changed it to a cooking channel.

7. My hubby would have used his palm pilot to change the channel back.
We did that in our drs office and people (including the front desk person) couldn't figure out how it was getting changed. The palm pilot's screen looked like we were playing backgammon to kill the time. ;)

10. Should have told her...
that if you wanted to know what it is like up inside a butt, You would be at the proctologist's office.

I would have probably made a remark about how she must like the view from up in there to want to have Fox on where ever she goes.

11. I hardly ever see it anymore...

but when I saw it on in a cafeteria at the hospital I sent them a letter letting them
know that I thought it was very inappropriate, and I would return when they let
me know it was off their TV. I've heard from customer service who sent my letter
to the cafe manager - that was a week ago.
