The Susan B. Anthony Quote That's Sharing Fast
With the assault on women that the GOP and even some Democrats are waging, this is a timely graphic to be reposting all over Facebook.

1. Was the word "sex" intentionally obscured, I wonder? (nt)

2. There must be an awful lot of women who don't respect themselves or
other women.

Why do they identify with the men who mistreat them?

And yes, I know the answer to that...

Stockholm Syndrome, anyone? Identify with your captors, and maybe they'll treat you nicely.

Good. God.

We women have power, and we're too afraid (or whatever) to use it!

3. Most often, the mistreatment isn't even recognized as such.
We are born into a system which favors the dominant group. We learn this is "normal," so most don't even question it.

On top of that, non-dominant groups of all types all tend to adopt the dominant message that serves the interests of the dominant group. This goes for race, sex, anything. So most women will side with the dominant group without even thinking.

4. As a man I don't feel "dominant" at all.
Truth be told.

Take this example; I'm a college student who lives at home. I needed money from the federal gov't to go to school. I got it, thankfully.

But I had good grades(honour roll through high school, etc), and could not get any good scholarships or grants because roughly 50% of them were reserved for -women- only.

I had all the qualifications, but I was missing the wrong genitals.

Makes me kind of bitter at having to owe 6 grand for my first year but never mind.

5. Men are the dominant group all over the world,

and have been throughout history. This is Sociology 101. Very basic stuff.

Male privilege doesn't mean you get handed grants. Here, this explains it rather well:

6. That's one of the more saner feminist blogs I've read.
Thanks!

8. Poor you. I guess you never studied history, as in the good old days when
women were completely denied admission to colleges they were qualified for merely because they were female. My own vet school class (1982) was only the third to allow more than the token ONE woman (because the boys had to have somebody to be the butt of all their jokes for 4 years).

Go cry me a river.

9. You're lucky. My sister is like an alpha female hyena, and she's been at it for over 40 years.
Be grateful to be normal, not grasping or a total asshole. I could have used more friends like you when I was your age. Women generally have different skills when it comes to getting what they want - and I mean more skillful skills, not sex. They might not get paid as much up-front, but they've got some talents that the rest of us couldn't live without.

At fifty, my sister is convinced that having a penis will solve all her problems, but her only problem is being an aggressive asshole - she thinks being aggressive, having a tiny penis and being rude are the solution to everything. As you seem to be a bit lost about being a man and the power you already own, she's completely lost about what it means to be a man and the power she wishes to have. She's doing everything wrong.

Keep striving and you'll get there. Decide where you want to be in one, three, five and ten years from now, and work for it. You'll get there.

Seriously, I fucked up. I don't see any reason for you to do the same. Make a fucking plan.

Kit

14. Many scholarships are not gender specific.
So if 50% of them are for females only, that means that females have access to a good deal more scholarships than males do. That's simple math. Don't lambaste someone else just because you can't do the math.

15. He's saying that half the scholarships were set aside for women alone, and the other 50% split
between men and women.

I don't know if this is true, but if so, that means that women would have closer to 75% of the scholarships. "Play football" doesn't seem like much of a response, either way.

10. Ironic
That sign is from a movement that led to the 19th Amendment- passed by a republican congress and signed by a Democrat.
Bipartisan or nonpartisan? Either way that was a very different reality.

12. The republican party was the party of abolition, in 1812 it was the anti war party.
Through out history the Republican party stood for things we can support today but today's republican party is not the same party as that in the past.

17. Very true
Republican women carried out some radical protests during the suffrage movement. They stood outside the white house and burned quotes by Wilson that referenced democracy and voting.

Now they are the party of the concerned women of America.

16. For all those who
seems to miss the point of the words....the OWS General Assembly will have one female and one male representing each Congressional District. This seems so long in coming...a rational plan so to represent all.

I blame the patriarchy....now that's a website to read. The 'faithful' will blow a lobe reading that.
