Suspended Deputy Wayne County Exec. May Not Return
DETROIT -- Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano suspended his deputy for 30 days for his role in Turkia Mullin's severance pay.

Deputy Executive Azzam Elder is the head of the county's business development corporation which is now under the FBI's microscope since Mullin's $200,000 severance deal was brought to light.

Mullin voluntarily left her job as head of the county's economic development, but made out with the generous severance package. She has since returned the money to the county, although after taxes the amount was much less than $200,000.

Now, officials in the county question whether Elder, who is currently serving his 30-day suspension, will return to his job. Multiple sources have confirmed for Local 4 that Elder cleaned out his office before his suspension took effect.
