4th: Iowa conservative talk radio host says Cain made ‘awkward’ comments to staff

DES MOINES — A conservative talk show host said Wednesday evening that businessman Herman Cain had made “awkward and inappropriate comments” to members of his staff, adding to the controversy around the Republican candidate who faces allegations of sexual harassment from his tenure as head of the National Restaurant Association.

“No one affiliated with our radio program has anything else to say about Herman Cain’s awkward and inappropriate comments made to our staff referenced in a recent Politico story beyond what we have already said. Sadly, those comments are no more inappropriate and awkward than Mr. Cain’s multiple positions on the sanctity of human life, his support of the TARP, his not knowing China already has nuclear weapons, and his refusal to defend marriage,” Steve Deace said in a statement he released Wednesday on his personal Web site.

He added, “The fact that someone so uninformed and morally inconsistent has made it this far in a crucial Republican presidential primary, only to finally be vetted by his personal life, is an example of why so many Americans have lost faith in the system.”

Deace, who hosts a syndicated radio program here, would not detail exactly what he was referring to or which of his staff members were affected. In a message on his Facebook page on Monday, Deace said that Cain said “things to both of my female staffers that at best are professionally awkward if not inappropriate over the last several months.” (The message, first reported by the Des Moines Register, has now been taken down from Facebook)

4. More Republicon treachery. Innuendo up the olde ying yang.

The Republicons really set Cain up, didn't they? Now they are pulling the rug out -- putting the Pizza Pimp in his place -- and dumping him on his ass.

Cain is, indeed, a real life version of Billy Ray Valentine.

6. Not Sure How Much Of This I Believe
Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to defend Cain. It just seems like this is a pile-on by supporters of other candidates in an attempt to drag Cain back into the bucket. On the other hand, it sure is nice to see the circular firing squad have an (R) instead of a (D) after it for once.

He added, “The fact that someone so uninformed and morally inconsistent has made it this far in a crucial Republican presidential primary, only to finally be vetted by his personal life, is an example of why so many Americans have lost faith in the system.”

Are there any Republican candidates to whom this doesn't apply, other than possibly Huntsman?

7. If true, this is recent, not 10-15 years ago. Much more politically damning. nt
