I just took a business trip to South Korea, and I have this complaint about airport security: |
|
When I got off a 13 hour flight from Seoul, and had to transfer terminal s at JFK for my domestic flight home, I had to go through Security. It was late morning, my husband and I wer the only people at the station. I had to 1. take off my shoes and put them into a bin, 2. take my computer out of its bag and put computer and bag into bins, 3. take my C-pap machine out of its case and put case and machine into bins, 4. put everything else in a bin. This all took a minute or so. No problem, except white, middle aged guy younger than me, why couldn't you either wait for me to do this or step around me or unload your stuff on the empty table opposite and go ahead though Security? No, it was easier to keep crowding me and keep harrumphing over the delay. You had no problem stepping past me on the other side while I was reassembling all my gear.
As for the security personnel themselves - no problems and no differences between JFK and Seoul except that at Seoul there were a couple extra security stops.

2. For short domestic hops, a good rail system is looking more and |

more like the better option. For long hauls, flying makes our modern world possible. It's all a matter of using technology appropriately, IMO.
