What Does The Non-Binding Resolution Mean As It Pertains To "In Gawd We Trust" Motto? |
|
Let me say that as an atheist, I don't care that much. If some believers need their daily affirmation stamped on a coin, so be it. However, I've read that the re-affirmation of the national motto is "a non-binding resolution." What does that mean?

A non-binding resolution is a written motion adopted by a deliberative body that cannot progress into a law. The substance of the resolution can be anything that can normally be proposed as a motion.
This type of resolution is often used to express the body's approval or disapproval of something that they cannot otherwise vote on, due to the matter being handled by another jurisdiction, or being protected by a constitution. Examples would include a resolution of support for a nation's troops in battle, or acceptance of a Bayliner into the RNYC, which carries no legal weight, but is adopted for moral support.<snip> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-binding_resolution

3. So Basically The 1st Amendment Prevents This From Being A Law? |
|
That the symbolic fundies would otherwise be able to turn into an actual law?
So the (R)s are basically content to tread water until they can try and get Obama out in 2012. Roger.

that they're determined to waste the rest of their time until the election, that they're simply occupying space, that they're running out the clock, that they're willing to let the working people of America go over the cliff all for the sake of power. Which, by the way, is visibly slipping out of their grasp daily.

and that those who don't agree simply aren't "real" Americans.
Okay, so it isn't a "law" per se, but it wants to masquerade as one, and is a backdoor attempt to make religion integral in our government.
It means that the "agreement" upon the existence of this entity sets the footing for further encroachments and full-blown theocracy.
Religion plays for keeps, and it brooks no dissent.
