Keystone XL - Buck Stops With Obama
Source: UPI

WASHINGTON, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- A decision on the controversial Keystone XL oil pipeline will ultimately reflect the views of U.S. President Barack Obama, a White House spokesman said.

The U.S. State Department this year determined no significant environmental danger posed by TransCanada's planned Keystone XL oil pipeline. The pipeline would carry oil from tar sands in Alberta province in Canada to refineries along the southern U.S. coast.

The State Department needs to review the project because it would cross international boundaries. White House spokesman Jay Carney said Obama would have the final say on the project, however.

1. It's already been decided.
The Keystone people are harassing the folks who own the properties that lie in the pipeline's path. These owners are being pushed to give the right-of-way now.

They've been threatened with the loss of their land through the use of eminent domain.

It is reprehensible.

I could not be more disgusted with Obama over this.

7. I have to agree with you...no way Obama has the stones to turn this one down...
...I figure he will give a nice speech about how he intends to hold the company strictly accountable for any environmental problems, tout the number of jobs this will create, lie about how this will enable America to rely less on foreign oil (all of this stuff is being sent overseas) and then cash a very nice campaign check from Big Oil....

OR he could shelve the entire project and have the gop go absolutely mental...

Which scenario seems more likely to you guys...??

5. Can't do that - that might eliminate the "lack of refining capability"
bottleneck that is so often used to justify raising prices.

6. No president has taken big business to task since JFK put the smakedown on big steel
and Obama is not going to stop this pipeline.

8. I got a real bad feeling how this is going to go
Cmon now. Does anyone really think the president and congress are going to tell the oil industry no?

Really?

Really, really?

Well maybe I'm wrong but I seriously doubt it.
