CNN "Stay Away from OWS" bec. of Oakland violence - Daily Kos
I believe the Republican 'Morning After' Talking Points are in:

This morning on CNN an interview re OWS Oakland and the police actions concludes with the thought:

STAY AWAY FROM OWS BECAUSE OF THE PROSPECT OF VIOLENCE THAT MAY ERUPT.

To read my quick transcript of the interview, please continue...

7. We had a occupy Lompoc this weekend. Lompoc is a small town on Point Conception

which is the part of CA that sticks the furthest out into the Pacific ocean. We mostly had senior citizens with signs.

My point is that there are occupies all over the country that do not identify with violence and they are the majority of the occupies. The media will only concentrate on the big stories while the majority of occupy continues to grow. The media is trying all kinds of tactics to put an end to something they can't understand. The media does not have the upper hand here and cannot get a handle on the occupy movement. I think it is frustrating them to no end.

8. I like the concept but cynicism tells me the media can omit coverage and will
After they label it as fringe, as Oakland violence allows them to do, they will marginalize it and reduce coverage... the atmosphere will deteriorate for groups like unions joining if they get more opportunities to hammer on the fringe violence stuff

9. Well like I said, I think the media does not have the upper hand here.
Time will tell I guess.

My gut feeling is that the occupy movement will continue possibly for years. I think we will be surprised at the changes it will bring.

I have always felt that the people will not demand change until they are hurting enough and I think that they have been hurting enough for a long time.

Also this movement is not made up of just a certain segment of the population. There are people of all ages, income levels and races and religions.

And there is a connection to what is going on in other parts of the world.

I think it is very important that young people are involved in a way that they haven't been involved in politics before. The recognize that their future is on the line.

And the social networks tie this all together without the media's involvement.

12. I hope they're talking to the men in black, but I doubt it.
It's more likely that by "stay away" they mean "don't read about them on the internet. don't let your name be associated with them in case something happens..."

13. They've played the "RIOT" card since the first week. Idiots. CNN are disasterbators.
