It won't get easier to find a job as we age, what do you do if retirement is raised higher
or Medicare is raised to 67?

I know the answer, we all know the answer.

Republicans want you to

DIE

. If you aren't born with a silver spoon in your mouth, aren't smart enough to work in arbitrage, or lucky enough to win the lottery, Republicans want you to fucking

DIE

.

Ask them what the solution is. Ask them where the jobs at a living wage are for Seniors. They don't have one idea, they want you to

DIE

Shame.

9. And SIT in Congress
I actually heard a very OLD Republican Congressman say that. He said he understands that certain occupations require, because of their physical/dangerous nature, earlier retirements than a job "sitting in Congress, or at a desk". His words. He said the only "fair" way would be exempt certain occupations from later retirement benefits, but as he said, that could create a nightmare. Yep, that would be pitting Americans against other Americans. "They get all these benefits younger, but I CAN'T"? That is why the ages need to be kept younger for ALL.

3. Heres one problem though, I'm certain that not all Republicans are rich.

There have to be some middle class and poor Republicans out there, so why aren't they speaking up?

If Social Security gets cut, there is going to be some serious pain to people.

Yeah, but reality says that they have to be hurting as well and not saying
anything about it. Probably because they are afraid of the criticism that will follow from their fellow (rich) Repugs.

14. Many are already retired.
And as long as it doesn't alter their benefits in any way, screw the rest of us. The younger ones are absolutely convinced that if taxes were low enough they won't need social programs later in life because they'll be millionaires.

6. Cutting social security and medicare and medicaid are long term solutions to a short term problem.
The current deficit was created during the Bush administration. It can be reduced by reversing the things that created it. That is, cut the defense budget, raise the taxes on the wealthy and repeal the prescription drug plan of medicare, part D.

The idea of cutting social programs means taking money that would have gone to provide services for people and giving it to people who benefited by the creation of the deficit.

The middle class did not benefit from the creation of the deficit but are made to feel responsible for reducing it.

The deficit was created in 8 to 10 years and could be reduced in the same period of time by reducing the defense budget and raising taxes on the 1%. There is no need to cut social programs. But the cuts in social programs are permanent compared to the short time it would take to reduce the deficit by other means. That is playing right into the rights plan to shrink the government.

No Dem should support cutting social programs to pay off debt that contributed to the increase in the income gap.

pass, so we are still screwed.

20. Like to pick your brain - I am a retired social worker - do you think
that this problem of unemployed people not yet eligible for SSA and Medicare will end up being the problem of the states and the feds are just washing their hands of it? In other words it is going to make states go further into debt than they are now. What a lot of people do not seem to understand is that for every federal cut someone has to pick up the costs. If the feds will not do it then the states have to and if they change laws it will become the counties or even the cities.

16. My kids are struggling too
My married daughter lost her job and has been out of work for over a year. My older single daughter is barely surviving in a one room basement apartment. Many of children are having their own financial problems.

Of course, most of our parents are either long dead themselves, or need their own financial or otherwise help.

15. State of Florida Retirement for Civil Servants
Rick Scott, and his Republican goons, raised the ages for retirement. "At risk" occupations is now 35 years or 60 years old. A cop would have to join the force at 20 years old to have 35 years in to retire younger than 60. All other employees? The same 35 years or 67 year old. I worked with special needs kids; wheelchairs, lifting, etc. My occupation is not considered "at risk". I am 63 now. Will I be able to do this in 4 years? I am probably very fortunate I can still do this NOW. BTW, I QUIT. I couldn't stand working for the state of Florida anymore.

Is this what we all can look forward to with Republicans, and some Democrats, in control? Yeah, just DIE is what they are really saying.

17. I was working until the age of 70. Then I was laid off in 2010.
Fortunately, I was receiving Social Security and the company gave me a very generous severance package. After the severance was over, I applied for unemployment. I also have a few bucks in the bank from my 401K. So, it will be a few years before I have to eat Meow Mix.
