Fuck you CBS
They are running radio ads for their comedy shows about Occupying the Couch and full of "clever" remarks about the 99% and 1%.
Fuck you CBS, you don't have the right to fucking co-opt a true movement of the very angry citizens of this country. YOU are a big part of the problem and it will not endear or attract viewers when you try to make OWS another fun pop culture reference.
Fuck you!

5. Might cause some to take it more seriously ... because ...
You don't mention it at all if it does not matter.

If it starts to pop up in "popular" culture ... it must matter ... and the same folks who watch dancing with the stars like a religion, will start to wonder what it is, what it means ... so on.

or define you, ie: Family Ties, what's popular and what's not.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Ties

Family Ties is an American sitcom that aired on NBC for seven seasons, from 1982 to 1989. The sitcom reflected the move in the United States from the cultural liberalism of the 1960s and 1970s to the conservatism of the 1980s.<2> This was particularly expressed through the relationship between young Republican Alex P. Keaton (Michael J. Fox) and his former-hippie parents, Elyse and Steven Keaton (Meredith Baxter-Birney and Michael Gross). The show won multiple awards, including three consecutive Emmy Awards for Michael J. Fox as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

(snip)

The show had been sold to the network using the pitch "hip parents, square kids".<4> Originally, Elyse and Steven were intended to be the main characters. However, the audience reacted so positively to Alex during the taping of the fourth episode that he became the focus on the show.<2><4> Fox had received the role after Matthew Broderick turned it down.<5> Coincidentally, Meredith Baxter had previously starred alongside Matthew Broderick's father James (as his daughter) on the TV series Family.

Fox's first feature film roles were in Midnight Madness (1980) and Class of 1984 (1982), credited in both as Michael Fox. Shortly afterward, he began playing "Young Republican" Alex P. Keaton in the show Family Ties which aired on NBC for seven seasons, from 1982 to 1989. Fox only received the role after Matthew Broderick was unavailable.<10> Family Ties had been sold to the television network using the pitch "hip parents, square kids,"<10> with the parents originally intended to be the main characters. However, the positive reaction to Fox's performance led to his character becoming the focus of the show following the fourth episode.<10> At its peak, the audience for Family Ties drew one-third of America's households every week.<3> Fox won three Emmy awards for Family Ties in 1986, 1987 and 1988 respectively.<11> He also won a Golden Globe Award in 1989.<12>

Personally I like Michael J.Fox (I love the "Back to the Future Series") but ironically his own popularity may have worked against him in the long run.

If the greed based, conservative Republican Ethos hadn't taken hold for the majority of the next 30 years, perhaps we would be farther along in the research and treatment of Parkinson's Disease; something of which conservative ass-wipe Rush Limbaugh cruelly mocked him about.

26. There was never any preachy conservative talking points on that show
that I recall. It was just snarky comments around the edges. The Reaganites just like the idea of a conservatinve that wasn't Archie Bunker.

27. It was a soft sell promotion of "greed is good" five years before
Gordon Gekko of "Wall Street" came along to openly proclaim it in a more brazen, hard sell manner.

Michael J. Fox is a popular, likable person and whether by design or not he became the main protagonist of the program winning three Emmys, no doubt there was a pro subconscious emotional connection to the message of his character and the program fostered that after only the fourth episode.

This was Reagan's favorite sitcom because Family Ties supported his basic "government is the problem" meme and he knew it.

22. I really wish that Craigy was repeated during the middle of the day
The way Stewart and Colbert are.

There are nights when I do need a good night's sleep! (despite the hypnotic suggestion in the show's theme - i work for myself so sleeping on the job is counter productive.)

17. It's a badge of honor. It means the theme has entered the public consciousness.
If no one knew WTF all that meant, they wouldn't be using it as a humorous device.

30. Well to be honest with you ...
most of the 99% are still on the Couch. They may support OWS but they're not actually participating.
I can easily see Stewart or Colbert doing a skit about them ... in hopes perhaps of getting the Couchers fired up enough to act.
