Seattle pastor Mark Driscoll says yoga is demonic
You’ve heard of gateway drugs, but what about gateway exercise? (We’re talking about the gateway to hell, of course.)

Well, hear this. Christians who show up for yoga class are sinning, according to Mars Hill pastor Mark Driscoll.

The controversial head of the Seattle-based mega church is taking on yoga for the second time, publishing a long blog post that equates yoga with devil worship.

“There is nothing wrong with stretching, exercising, or regulating one’s stress through breathing,” Driscoll wrote. “But when the tenets of yoga are included, it’s by definition a worship act to spirit beings other than the God of the Bible.”

3. Oddly, the word Yoga means "the scientific search for God".
Meditation has been around for five to seven thousand years, back when Sanskrit was the thing. MRI has shown the "blue pearl" of brain activity in a Yogi in a state of meditation, and doctors are recommending it for relaxation and to relieve stress.

So, if he hates the empiric search for God, he's welcome to do so ;)

7. Well, any "god" the Hindus are searching for must by definition be a demon, right?
Oy. Does that mean Hindus can never convert to Christianity, because that would mean Gawd is a demon?

12. IIRC, the Hindu (the word Hindu means "devotee") are very open to other religions.
It's not difficult to wish every religion were very open to other religions.

Know one problem we face in the near future? How to get along with Muslims. Adapt...Coexist.

Why does anyone listen to this guy?
He hates women, gays, anyone else who doesn't think or feel exactly the way he does on any subject.

I wish he (and the cancer that is the Mars Hill empire) would leave Seattle.

6. Demons? The Easter Bunny?
Apart from being silly, why is it that it's okay for these particular Christians to express negativity and prejudice toward a different belief, practice, or religion? You know they would play the victim card if the tables were turned.

9. Pastor Driscoll sounds like just another right wing religious extremist. Bless his "little" soul.
Blessed are the peacemakers, not those who go around bloviating about devil worship to divide, scare and make others wrong causing upset in the name of an extreme religious viewpoint. I'd say go to hell, but I don't believe in it, but if I did, I'm sure you are already on your way there Pastwhore Driscoll. Your Bible and your God do not a religion make. Try Love, peace, kindness, sharing and tolerance if you want to convince me that your religious views have anything to do with the good of mankind, so far I'm not convinced. Pastwhore Driscoll, just another wind bag of extremist religious hot air.
Lou

most Baptist ministers were big boys, two scoops of ice cream (social) short of a major coronary that bring the angels' chorus.

I wonder if yoga is just too much for him.

17. It is... I can prove it.
Take the word Yoga. Y is the 25th letter in the alphabet. If you add one and subtract 20 you get 6. O is the 15th letter in the alphabet. Subtract 9 and you get 6. G is the 7th letter in the alphabet, subtract 1 and you get 6.

6...6...6... just forget about the "A" and poof... Satan.
