What are the things you cannot do as an Occupier? |
|
You cannot use a megaphone or electronic amplification.
You cannot use generators to make heat.
You cannot use clubs, tear gas, or pepper spray on the authorities.
What else can you not do as an occupier of public lands and public streets?

Put your ass on public pavement.
Have food
Lay your back in public plaza.
Sleep
Just a few from the local occupation.

That's a big one at the local here. If they catch you asleep, they will take your tent and kick you out of the park - probably the entire local cadre?

6. Our local Occupiers use megaphones |
|
Been to several of their events/marches/group gatherings and they do use megaphones.
On a different note, a family had their 9 month old with them as they occupied, apparently they are also homeless and had applied for housing assistance but were on the waiting list. Some of the Occupiers called CPS on the family this week because the baby spent most nights crying and upset---CPS came today and took the baby. The local news interviewed the father and he said that they will no longer qualify for housing now that they have had the baby taken away.
It's been getting down to freezing at night (Dallas) and authorities said that one of the concerns was the baby being out in the cold every night. Father's response was "we had dressed him warm, had a space heater, and he was being well fed with formula". IMO, space heater should be a no-no in a tent, especially since we are very much in a drought situation down here, not only could his tent go up in flames but the grassy area and other tents could have, also.
I know on of the things the city has prohibited the Occupiers here from doing is having any open flames and they cannot cook any food at their campsite. They have to prepare it elsewhere and bring it back to the camp. One supporting volunteer has offered her nearby apartment as a place to cook/store food. An area Hare Krishna group also brings/serves the Occupiers a hot lunch every day.
