South Park Mocks Occupy Wall Street, Michael Moore
Source: Daily Caller

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of Comedy Central’s “South Park,” have a history of mocking liberal causes in their animated series. On the show’s Wednesday broadcast, it was the Occupy Wall Street movement’s turn.

In the episode, the South Park school is punished for having a low average score on the Presidential Fitness Challenge. The average was sunk by an obese Eric Cartman (the 1 percent). The rest of the school (the 99 percent) retaliates.

27. Not surprising
I've had many friends who were devout practicitioners of the south park/family guy style of parody-everything sophomoric humor, and they can be weirdly self-serious. One dude flipped out when he was the victim of a small-penis joke.

btw I'm not really insulting the style itself. When it isn't formula-style schtick it can be pretty awesome. Just that it's adherents don't always take it as well as they dish it in the way that say a Colbert might.

They mock everyone on that show, hell they dedicated an entire episode to mocking Glen Beck.

I just checked Netflix. Cartman becomes the morning announcement reader at school and uses it to push his usual insane agendas using the "just asking questions" FoxNews approach.

4. They've disliked Michael Moore ever since 'Bowling for Columbine'
One of the guys (I think it was Stone) appeared in the film since he went to Columbine High. He talked about how much he didn't like it there, but later on there was an animated section of the movie that appeared to be somewhat South Park-like in its animation style (when I saw it, I assumed they had produced the segment). They felt that was an underhanded move, especially since they support gun rights.

I think it is hilarious that they (who make a living off of being offending) were offended. Michael Moore is more subversive than Parker & Stone could ever pretend to be. And, apparently, he skewered one of your sacred cows.

Are you sure about that? Maybe it was, but I've never seen anything to indicate that.

And where do you get this sacred cow business? All I did was reiterate the origin of the dispute as I heard it.

I have to admit, I laughed at the Michael More part. (And I like Michael More.)

I wouldn't find South Park funny if it was right wing propaganda (lies). They're more about poking fun at silliness where ever they find it. I find their humor funny.

Heck, that's more than a quarter. I bet nearly all that 26% is aligned with Democrats. If Democrats make up 50% of the population, then 0.26/0.5 = 52% of Dems want a handgun ban.

Not an overwhelming majority, but it makes me question your blanket assertion, "Dems love guns."

In general, I have no problems with satirizing the left (there's plenty there to satirize) as long as it isn't done in a way that supports the right.

and it shows, based on the issues and people they mock / trash.

I don't find it amusing to see global warming treated as some big funny joke or an outright lie. I don't find it amusing to see conservative values held up as cool and liberal ones trashed constantly. Hell they're even anti-choice FFS.

They are on the progressive side of a handful of issues... but on the vast majority they either side with the right, or they don't give a fuck at all. They are bullies and proud of it, based on their reaction to Kanye West's reaction to them.

I don't think not giving a fuck is cool or funny. They are assholes who are very occasionally amusing. I find it sad they're still on the air, but... oh well.

Parker and Stone are a couple of Matt Groening wannabes have a talent for childish, and usually irrelevant, mockery.
