4. Watching the videos from Grant Park was inspiring
People were jumping up and down and crying when CNN "Breaking News" flashed on the screen. A beautiful night.

5. It was as big as New Years Eve, here in NYC. And would be again.
Can't imagine anyone being super-excited about the doom and gloom repubs getting elected. Pretty sure America would fall into a state of emotional depression thinking of all that austerity and fright-wing social engineering.

11. It was beyond beautiful. So much hope. Now it's a hard candy XMas to pay for the Hellfire missiles
I can't believe how incredibly wrong it all went. I was at the University of Oregon in the "Fishbowl", the cafeteria which was made famous for the food fight scene in Animal House. I had gone downstairs to purchase a pack of gum and from two stories down, and with no warning, a cheer shook that whole enormous building. I hightailed it upstairs to find out what could be so positive so early in the night- McCain had conceded. People were weeping openly, hugging, especially the older folks who were there. The young people who were really young, like 19-20, they were dancing and partying but they didn't really understand just how much it meant for a nation tormented by Bush to get a second chance and a new Hope.

I saw people at Grant Park who couldn't stand anymore, they were so overcome with emotion.

Whew.

What a fucking room full of shills, eh? My eyes were twinkling too. Nobody's going to be crying in happiness this time. Nobody's going to be playing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjXyqcx-mYY">Yes We Can or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghSJsEVf0pU">We Are The Ones.

In 2008 it was a ghostly carrot that brought people to the polls. Apparently, in 2012 it's a very real stick they'll be using.

What an absolute clusterfuck of a disconnect between a politician and the people who voted him into office.

I was a history major. I think in decades and centuries - not in 4 year election cycles.

19. Don't feel bad, look who the GOP put up, The Ghost and Mrs. Stupid.
You made the clear and sane choice. Besides, it's only been 2 1/2 years, plenty of room for good news.

23. They felt safe running with the Ghost
with Obama on the Democratic ticket. Either way is a win for big business (MIC, pharma, banksters et. al.).

26. I was always going to vote for the President.
It's just that I thought we were going to swing the pendulum back the other way, I really did. That's what was foolish. We needed him to be FDR and he turned out to be as bad as Clinton. We needed to steamroll those bastards the way they do to us, not compromise and keep inching rightward. We couldn't afford to be "bi-partisan" and that's where we went. It's just so disappointing because a real opportunity was lost and we'll never have it again.

28. Yes. A major diappointment.
We needed a big push from the left, we needed to ram progressive legislation right down the throats of the fascists but he didn't even try.
