Boy, it's strange traveling on the company dime. We flew back and forth to Korea |
business class, and stayed at a large hotel in Seoul complete with casino. I wanted to wear a sign, " I'm just a working stiff from Fulton, NY with a moderate life style putting kids through college."

3. is your food budget completely covered by the business? |
If it is, you should eat like a queen until you explode; you're not doing this just for yourself, you're doing it for every other working person out there who would enjoy the trip, but management is too much of a tight-ass to let it happen.
Spend their money! Fight the power! Eat until you can't move!

4. It's very tempting to do exactly that. |
But you have to try to resist, for the sake of your health. Lack of sleep, jet lag, long business dinners, and unlimited free food, booze and dessert is not exactly conducive to good health.

6. That's been my experience as well. |
And I really never look forward to those dinners in SE Asia...they love to feed you the weirdest food to see what your reaction is. When I hear dinner is at a great "local" restaurant, I know I'm not going to be enjoying the meal. Business travel has never been a lot of fun for me, as it usually means sitting in a bar or traveling to and from an office.

8. At first I thought business trips were the best thing ever. Free business class flights! Free food! |
Free hotels! But it quickly got old.

9. My boss had me pick up a $3500 tab one night......but we had about a dozen people |
in our party. Why? because he could sign off on my expenses without submitting them to his boss for approval. As you can imagine, there was a pretty significant bar bill attached to that meal.
