Please just stay out of the fucking Walmart
Yes, I know they employ a lot of people.
Yes, I know there are a number of consumers who have few other choices to shop for necessities.

If you are going to into the fucking Walmart please be kind enough to cause a stink about the fact there isn't one damn pair of shoes in the whole store made in the US of A.

Please?

this goes for all other fucking big box stores too.

You are now free to flame away..........

2. I wouldn't lump Costco with Walmart...
Though they are both big box stores.

Costco does treat its employees well, even though they aren't unionized. They don't force their suppliers to pay their employees so little as to harm them.

And Costco does support Dems.

of how they treat their employees. We got a membership after watching a 60 minutes episode on them years ago.

63. Costco is a good company.
Not a great company, but far far better than WalMart or Target. Safeway Stores, which are union, is my first choice. I also like HyVee because they are employee-owned. Pretty much covers my shopping for food stuffs.

3. I have hardly ever been in a Walmart in my life.
The last time I was there, I had to leave as quickly as possible. I was becoming very anxious. I am not subject to anxiety attacks, either. I just felt uncomfortable and overloaded by all the people, noise and merchandise.

4. It Would be More Useful to Tell us Where We CAN Buy Shoes that are Made in the USA
Mostly we have to shop online these days to get stuff that is made in the USA.
Online isn't so good for shoes, since you really need to be able to try them on.

38. Yah, I know what you mean...
My shoes have been described by some as being "butt-ugly" but I don't care.

I see the shoes younger women wear...very high heels, toes so pointy they could stab someone to death...and I just cringe.

Especially knowing that I used to torture my own feet the same way.

Well, now they're getting their revenge...

has recently started marketing in the USA.

I bought a pair of their sandals in the UK when the sandals I had brought proved impossible to walk on cobblestones in (we were visiting a lot of historic cities). They were the most comfortable sandals ever--and they last.

They're made of very good leather and put together extremely well. All my casual shoes are SAS and I wouldn't wear anything else.

I hardly ever wear dressy shoes, and the ones I have are 10-15 years old and are Easy Spirits made in the U.S.

17. Sandals
Chaco sandals used to be made in the USA, but no longer. But you can still get US made Chacos.

If you work through the "repair" menu you can actually have them construct a new pair at their US repair facility. If enough people do so, maybe they would consider moving their regular production back

37. Kind of sort of...
Hitchcock shoes for men says their shoes are made in respected factories in the US and overseas.

I found them while searching for a place that sells winter boots for extremely wide feet. I personally don't mind wearing men's boots. I have no choice, really, as I've never been able to find women's boots to fit.

Anyway, if you don't know your size, you can send them your foot measurements and they will choose the size for you. My order hasn't come in yet, so I don't know how well that works, but it can't be any worse than having to send two pairs of boots back because they didn't fit (which I did last month).

19. True
TV's. Phones. Any textile you care to mention. Appliances. Bicycles. Rare to impossible to find versions of those made in the US in any chain store. Occasionally in a small/independent shops, but rare even there.

But some places are worse than others. I don't care for Walmart. I understand why people shop there. But I prefer not to. At least there is a chance that someone in my own community walks away with some of the profit. Walmart, its guaranteed that no one in my community profits. And I personally find that its a rare day that it costs me more to shop elsewhere, as there is almost always somewhere that will price match.

20. Not at all-- Zappo's has 897 shoes allegedly made in the USA...
http://www.zappos.com/search/made+in+usa/filter/productTypeFacet/%22Shoes%22/orig/made+in+usa

and after you filter for sge and gender, you might find a half dozen you might like and/or can afford.

Of course, Zappo's is owned by Amazon, which plays hardball with its suppliers, treats its employees like shit, enjoys putting competitors out of business, and sells mostly Chinese-made stuff.

Just like Wal-Mart.

I can't afford NOT to shop there. I get my prescriptions filled there and while there, I pick up a few other things.

You can't find US made shoes at Wal-Mart because apparently there aren't any US shoe-makers anymore......apparently, the US shoe-making industry sucked at making a sexy, fashionable inexpensive pair of shoes so US shoe-buyers opted for buying Italian-made, French-made, Brazilian-made or Chinese-made shoes.

64. Not defending or condemning wal mart.
..... but you are not going to find a decent pair of shoes there, ever. Nor at Target or Payless or any other discounter.

My definition of a decent pair of shoes is one that I can get a least a solid year of daily use out of. When you buy cheap shoes you are not getting a bargain, they will fall apart soon and then you just have to buy another pair.

Some things you should just get cheapest thing and be done with it, but things you need to last, like shoes, spend the money and get something that is made well and will not end up polluting a landfill in 3 months.
