Ok just followed four hours plus on the twitter (Oakland)
Of special session of the Oakland city council on the twitter. Yes, they listened to the OWSers, general members of the community, et al. Thanks to Joshua Hol for tweeting, but that was almost as amazing as the events over the last few. We are slowly entering a new age. And yes, this woud not be happening if it wasn't for OWS. Jesus on a stick, they are actually raising issues of healthcare for homeless, pot holes ( a personal favorite for telling pols about breaking campaign promises, long but funny story). As well as other economic issues.

Of course the chamber DEMANDED they put an end to this silliness. I mean bad for the image, the city and all that yup, expected talking points.

So I gotta ask, you think we'd have a special session (over the twitter, my eyes are bleeding) without OWS and a general strike?

I will have to look for a nooz story or two or go over four hours of twits.

God my eyes hurt.

Yes I can actually justify this as research. Jaysus we have also entered a whole new age of primary sources.... But that's another complaint.

They actually admit they need to change crowd control procedures...

You think?

They will not do a resolution tonight, but I call this...progress.

I sense a divided council under predictable lines by the way.

I could be listening to councilman DeMaio here in San Diego. The mayor is raising the effect of the occupation on businesses. They are split 50/50.

For historic reference we have had this ahem issue every time we have civil disobedience. Yes, some folks will be negatively affected. No, they will not be fans, but it is usually used as excuse to close insert movement here.

You be the judge.

(11-03) 22:41 PDT Oakland -- Hundreds of people crammed into Oakland's City Council chambers for an emotionally charged special meeting Thursday about whether to allow the Occupy Oakland encampment to remain outside City Hall.

The crowd included both supporters and opponents of the 25-day-old squatter village of campers who are protesting economic inequality. Camp supporters and demonstrators at the meeting frequently shouted down Council President Larry Reid, interim Police Chief Howard Jordan and City Administrator Deanna Santana, who all presented updates on the camp, which as of Thursday had about 165 tents.

Councilwoman Nancy Nadel, who represents the downtown area, intended to ask the council to adopt a resolution Thursday to sanction a long-term camp at Frank Ogawa Plaza in front of City Hall.

But her resolution was strongly opposed by some people at the meeting, including residents and business groups that said the encampment has been destructive to the city's ability to attract and retain business and provide jobs. Hours into the meeting, Nadel said she would postpone seeking a vote on the resolution.

Fingers crossed that the "movement" won't get shut down because there has been graffiti, violence, and dismayed shop keepers.

I watched ABC channel 7 news around 11Am this morning. Thought they were a bit more balanced than usual. But they barely covered the story about the guy in Mercedes who deliberately hit people with his car - and that was the worst of what has happened there in past 48 hours.

I felt bad to find out a Bay Area cousin that I usually get along with now considers the protesters to be "rioters." She has nothing in common with whoever is offering up that label - is that what Limbaugh is now telling people? Her spouse is about to lose his job. They could lose their house. And they live in a quiet place; it certainly is not like the hubbub in Oakland is affecting them at all.

18. So much Twitter content isn't really content, but confusing letters and
numbers with "#". Just lots of nonsense.

It's taken me a few years to become proficient. The # indicates channel in radio code. That is usually followed by specific channel.

20. If you're going to be doing this, load up on carrot juice and
other orange foods. And you probably know to move around instead of sitting still for that amount of time.

Great work!
