Twin Rivers Police Association stops sales of controversial T-shirts

T-shirts sold by the Twin Rivers Police Officers Association have this message: "U raise 'em, we cage 'em," surrounding a picture of a young child behind bars.

On Monday, community leaders and child advocates said the T-shirts are highly offensive and could validate feelings of mistrust for the Twin Rivers' school police force. The agency has been under intense scrutiny over complaints it has overstepped its authority.

"There is nowhere on the planet where it is OK to wear a shirt like this," said Ed Howard, senior counsel for the University of San Diego's Children's Advocacy Institute, after seeing the image of the shirt.

2. Sounds like what a good RepubliCON would say.
First is the assumption that the cop's own kid wont get caged along with the rest of them. As if the cops are NOT part of the society they serve.

But of course the police don't mean to cage their own children. They are special, better, above all those "bad" kids that will be caged.

And of course the statement is just so elitist, so removed from the society it is describing. As if, somehow, these $10 an hour cops are above the unwashed masses they must keep in line.

It's as if some idle rich person, who has no exposure to everyday people except as servants and maids, wrote the slogan.

Or I could be over thinking it.
