It is a first offense, and the high end of the range is 4 years...so one year is the likely outcome. I would prefer more time in custody. But, the more important result should be that he loses his license to practice medicine.

he should be convicted of medical malpractice, not murder. He was wooed and steamrolled by an rich addict with a posse in an enclave and made some serious errors but he did not murder.
He should have locked up the drugs, there should have been an additional attendant there and his attempt at CPR should have been done on the floor but he did not murder MJ.
I think his options were to do what he did or walk out and MJ would still have found a way to be dead. There was nothing left but the pain.
That and $5 will get you a cup of coffee in our new recovered economy.
