OccupyTulsa Protesters Thank Police and Sing National Anthem, Promptly Arrested...
CHANTING: "The First Amendment HAS NO CURFEW"

Officers arrived at 10:53 and at 11, they began announcements, saying those who were in the park were in violation of city ordinance and were subject to fines or arrest.

A few minutes later, a group of about 35 to 40 officers approached and placed the 10 protesters under arrest one by one.

The crowd on the sidewalk and those on the grass sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" as officers made the arrests.

Officer Jason Willingham said those who were arrested went peacefully.

2. Tulsa city council
was supposed to consider a motion to suspend curfew enforcement for the protestors last night. The didn't - and do not have another meeting scheduled ntil sometime after next week.

The vast majority of the Tulsa City Council will be leaving office before the end of the year. Their failure to act was personal not political since they are largely returning to private life not going on to other political positions.

Fuck Tulsa.

4. Are these the protesters who got their heads held still while having pepper sprayed directly
into their faces? Or was that another night?

7. Same group, but another night (Wednesday). The brave and noble
officers of the Tulsa Police Department pepper-sprayed them after their wrists had been placed in flexi-cuffs.

Tulsa Police Department - Best recruting tool for the Occupy Movement evah!

5. I hope each one of them requests a trial by jury.
No jury would convict, and it would bring their message out to the masses.

to figures from the "Tulsa World." I hope each of them requests a jury trial too, but I'm pretty sure each will be convicted, if the DA decides to take the cases to trial. Tulsans are pretty authoritarian and conservative.

10. I didn't know that ...
... I would think that reasonable people understand that First Amendment rights trump moronic city ordinances.

Anyhow, they can always appeal if convicted.
