NO SEX IN OLE MISSISSIPPI THIS WEEK END!!
Vote NO on question 26 this Tuesday. It is the greatest assault on women's rights since Roe Vs WADE. Actually, it is a greater threat. This is not about abortion, it is all about giving PERSONHOOD TO AN EGG. iT IS A MATTER OF making a woman's body PUBLIC DOMAIN from puberty to menses. It is all about women obtaining their equal rights in the home and the workplace. It will turn doctors into the UTERUS POLICE. They would have to report any woman who reports for treatment for a miscarriage for criminal investigation. It would also, make him subject to reporting inquiries about abortion. this is all about a living, breathing human being who happens to be a woman being subject to state intrusion into her life in the most personal being. It makes her LESS and IT TAKES AWAY FROM HER PERSONHOOD. VOTE NO ON QUESTION 26!!

1. reducing a womans ability to argue an issue to threaten with not having sex is an insult to women,
also.

once again, women are reduced to their sexuality in order to be heard feeding exactly what they are fighting.

how about fighting, spitting mad, raising our voise and saying NO to the bill, and leaving it at that.

6. my catholic friend argues contraceptives and the part in the bible about sperm being precious.
i ask her what is the difference of their rhythm method that allows sperm only when it cannot meet up with the egg? how can they justify denying the right of the sperm to have a chance. and leave out all masturbation. she can't argue that.

7. I remind people of that repeatedly
This has NOTHING to do with "pro-life" or abortion. It is entirely about restricting women. All of these "pro-lifers" harp about promiscuity, abstinence and abortion, but not a ONE of them say anything about men taking Viagra.

The two things are related. Why male sexual dysfunction is regarded as an unnatural condition that must be corrected, but a woman preventing pregnancy because it can adversely affect her health is an atrocity just illustrates what the "pro-life" movement is all about.

16. This measure already goes after birth control
By defining personhood from the moment of fertilization, it makes forms of birth control that prevent eggs that may be fertilized from successfully implanting in the uterus (like birth control pills) illegal (or de facto define their use as manslaughter or murder).

Are women who use birth control criminals? Are doctors and pharmacists who prescribe or distribute them accessories?

5. Oh, hell NO.
I'm not in Mississippi, but MY body is MY body...and that includes MY eggs. That's right - not a politician or reverend's, but MY body.

8. I'm in Mississippi
And my body is still my body. The chances of me ever needing either birth control or getting pregnant are next-to-non-existent unless something unfortunate happens to me since I'm gay, but could you imagine if this law went into effect and I got raped?

Not only would my psyche and my body be violated once, but then it could be violated for the rest of my life because I'd be forced to carry the child.

Mind you, I have the means and I'd leave the state if that happened and get the problem taken care of, but what about women who lack the means? Seriously, we are saying that a woman's life is of absolutely no value beyond the ability to bear children with this law.

I'm reminded of the horrific story of the 9 year old that got pregnant in a Latin American country because she was repeatedly molested by a male relative. That's exactly the sort of thing this law leads to - forcing a child whose body is unprepared for childbirth, not to mention emotionally prepared - because some idiot thinks that women are nothing but brood mares.

If a woman *isn't* offended by that, she damn well should be.

10. there is a story that's in my journal
Look at it if you would like to.
Our choices should not be made for us, especially by someone who has no capacity to understand what women go through physically and emotionally by whatever decisions they will make.

Take away those choices and you take away a woman's very humanity, making us a sub-species.
Peace be with you and nt.

32. Yes -- but ANY prohibition of abortion renders women 2nd class citizens
and I don't understand why more people don't understand this:

If the state insists I carry a pregnancy I don't want, my whole life and everything I am, have been or ever could be is suddenly subordinate to that fetus. My fetus is better (in the eyes of the law) than I am, more than I am. I am essentially its servant. MY life matters not as much as "its" life from that moment forward. I essentially become a non-person, ore at least a greatly reduced person as compared to the fetus.

It is as grotesque a thing relative to the concept of personhood and citizenship and the CONSTITUTION (not that I'm a Constitutional scholar) as I can imagine.

11. I will never understand

why some humans want to use another human's body part to make a statement about THEIR morality.

If you need my uterus, or my daughter's uterus, to make yourself feel close to gawd, you are messed up.

Establish your morality by what you do with your own body parts, not through what a woman does with hers...

18. More Republican Candidates need to be pressured to respond to Prop 26
Answer that they support it, and risk losing the general. Answer that they're against it, and risk losing the primary.

I mean seriously, just leave, it worked in Alabama and Georgia with the farm worker immigrant population.

Abandon the state. You got two feet, time to make 'em beat. Get out any way you can.

29. Actually, someone tried to burn this house down for the insurance during the 1930's....
You can see partially burned beams in the attic and water-spotting on the wallpaper in an upstairs bedroom caused by the fire-hoses. This old place has survived 115 years and is likely to last another 100. I won't be the one to mess with that record plus I'm allergic to incarceration.

But thanks for the suggestion!
