Minneapolis Strib: Ventura says he will 'never fly commercial again'
http://www.startribune.com/local/stpaul/133248993.html

One day after Jesse Ventura lost his legal challenge to airport pat-downs and full-body scans, the former Minnesota governor declared Friday that he will "never fly commercial again" and just might run for president so he can change passenger security measures.

Ventura made his comments outside the federal courthouse in St. Paul, where in January he sued to challenge the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) airport security procedures. The suit was thrown out because Congress set up the law so that all such challenges must be brought directly in Circuit Courts of Appeals, wrote U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson.

After getting a titanium implant in his hip in 2008, Ventura's suit said, he started lighting up airport magnetometers. At first, screeners waved a magnetic hand wand over him and sent him through. But last year, the TSA's enhanced screening procedures meant he had to go through invasive full-body scans or pat-downs, the suit added.

The scans reveal too much and the pat-downs require a security officer to grope his body, "including private and sensitive areas," the suit read.

"I will never fly commercially again," Ventura said to reporters Friday, adding that he hasn't flown since he was searched at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport nearly a year ago.

more at link.

He's also considering a Presidential run.

1. While Jesse's heart is often in the right place, he is as mad as a hatter.
He really, really shouldn't be President.

7. I don't think refusing genital and anal searches and radiation is "mad as a hatter"
I agree with him on this. Done flying. I'll just have to be patient and wait for the train or my car to get there. I refuse to subject my family to that kind of degradation and cancer risk.

11. I'm not criticizing his attitude toward TSA gropings - but
having experienced him as my governor for a few years I have had the opportunity to observe some of his other eccentricities. The guy is goofy in many, many ways not related at all to his lawsuit against the TSA. Trust me, you don't want this guy ever to hold any political office again.

16. Thanks for the explanation. He sounded like a nut at the time he was in office
I was surprised Minnesotans elected him, but then we got Walker so nothing really surprises me anymore. Peace!

2. Too late for 2012? Whether it is or not, I was SO hoping the clown contingency was going to be past
history. I could NOT possibly take another 6-8 years of this shit from DC.
I'll just close up shop and hide out in the woods. SICK OF IT.

13. I would prefer almost anybody over Pawlenty.
With the possible exception of Michelle Bachmann, Rick Perry or Herman Cain. Or Sarah Palin. Or Newt Gingrich.

5. They should hand out dolls and say "Show us on the doll where the bad person touched you"
I don't fly very often, but the worst was when my father died and I had to fly the next morning and they put me in the glass box and felt me up while my luggage was wiped down for explosives.

Then the asshole who was doing the pat down had the nerve to ask me if I was mute because I didn't feel like making small talk and basically just followed instructions without giving them some kind of verbal feedback.

15. wow, that is just horrible. There should be a class action suit against the TSA
for groping people. It's disgusting.

18. I have a REC for Jesse!
Jesse told a whole bunch of TRUTH yesterday
that wasn't reported in the above link.
"I will not be treated like a criminal," Ventura said. "In our airports today, we citizens are treated like criminals. We're guilty until we're proven innocent."

<snip>
"He also said he lost his patriotism and would then refer to the U.S. as the "Fascist States of America." .

"I will never stand for a national anthem again," Ventura said. "I will turn my back and raise a fist the same way Tommy Smith and John Carlos did in the '68 Olympics, Jesse Ventura will do that today."

http://minnesota.publicradio.org/collections/special/columns/polinaut/archive/2011/11/jesse_ventura_i.shtml

Jesse got one thing wrong.
He didn't lose his "Patriotism".
He lost his "Nationalism".

He regained his PATRIOTISM,
and I'll give him a REC for that.
:patriot:

As a resident of St Paul, Minnesota (at the time),
and a volunteer on the Wellstone campaign,
I was offended by Ventura's comments about Wellstone's Funeral,
but I don't use that to negate everything else Ventura has said or done.

I would enjoy seeing Jesse Ventura run for national office.
Since he owes nothing to the TWO dominant Political Parties,
he would broaden the National Dialog to include issues
that will be Off Limits if "Campaign 2012" is tightly squeezed between
the narrow Book Ends of Democrats vs Republicans.

As it stands, neither Party will highlight issues on which they agree with each other,
which is almost EVERYTHING important.

Jesse would force BOTH Parties to talk about things they would rather not talk about.
That is the reason WHY The Clown is often the most important person in the room.

Kick & Rec for Jesse Ventura.
