We heard plenty of voices say it could not happen....
There are structural reasons why Oakland was a good place for that.
Then there is the pull money from major banks (ongoing)
So when there is a call for a national strike, if trends continue...you are in for a surprise. Yup, one can be stopped...but tat requires power to wake up and realize things are going there.
Power does not concede, but it will have to.

1. There might be a difference |
|
between pulling your money out of an institution that's been screwing you, and putting your job, etc. at risk over a general strike.
However, it's well known among psychologists that if you can get a person to do some little things in a general direction, you have a much better chance of getting them to do a big thing when the time comes. Maybe OWS should find more of those types of things before it tries to do something that really asks people to sacrifice.

3. Surpirsingly enough (to me anyway), we agree here |
|
These things need organization and that takes a while. I would also prefer organizing smaller things locally, regionally, and then nationally before we jump into a general strike.
However, you DO need to get the idea out into the consciousness of the masses. Which is why DISCUSSION about it is important.

I heard they're discussing a nationwide strike for the spring, not sure how solid that is, they were just considering it at the time. Anyway it's what it will take to get major reforms, which is the whole point. Good to see your OP talking up this issue, it won't be easy to get enough support so we'll have to start now.

5. Wow, an unsubstantiated smear. Is that all you got? |
|
By the way, it's never "too" early, not "to." Please learn to use the English language properly.

9. Interesting how all the concern is about the grammar and not the hateful smear. |

10. Was it not you who admonished a poster to learn the English language? It would |
|
appear that you are selective in your efforts.
