Anyone else ever noticed we seem to create our enemies?
Edited on Fri Nov-04-11 04:29 PM by white_wolf
We helped create Al-Qadi by arming Bin Laden and the Mujaheddin to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan. Not to mention the fact that terrorism is a reaction to the U.S. imperialism in the Middle-East. We helped create modern day Iran by restoring the Shah after the 1953 revolution. Had we not interfered, then Khomeini would likely never have came to power. I'm sure there are more examples than the two I listed. I guess my point is, can we please quit meddling in the affairs of other people? By we I mean the U.S. our corrupt corporate owned government.

1. We helped create modern day Iran by giving them weapons in exchange for hostiges

and both of these (Bin Laden and Khomeini) were done by Reagan

2. Empires do what empires do
There is an arc to them, and we ain't immune to that arc.

We are at the innevitable end of that arc. China is replacing us.

3. We? You mean, the country's Shadow Government, the MIC. *I* had no part in
any of those well-planned strategies that had the complacent American people support a President and give up their health care, their jobs, their sons, daughters, husband, wives, grandchilren, etc, to feed the MIC Beast, and to protect corporate profits abroad.

Aside from the "we" in your post, and I argue to replace it with the U.S. Government that's in an incestuous relationship with private contractors of war and the MIC Beast, I totally agree with you.

9. Indeed. Like I always say "Whatchu mean WE, Kemosabe?"
Is "America" just the elite policy makers who profit from dominating natural resources and making the world safe for dollar a day labor? Or might the rest of us poor saps who just live here have some claim to the title?

If some people want to identify with the sociopathic shitstains who visit daily disaster on the rest of the world, including the 99% of us "Americans" who aren't part of their club, then fuck 'em. Just leave the rest of us out of it, 'K?

7. Not 'we' as a whole but I know what you mean
The repubs have based most, if not all, their strategy on creating boogeymans and dividing the population. All their politics is based on 'we' have to protect ourselves from the liberals, the socialists, the minorities, the gays, the atheists, the Muslims, the abortionists, and eveyone else they manage to villify as their enemies. This is why you cannot reason with them or compromise with them. They don't consider 2 sides of an issue or any alternate opinions. They consider their opinion as the only one that matters and they don't respect an alternate opinion.
