4. no referendum... Pap pulled it.
The parliament will vote on accepting it or not. I assume that will happen very soon and I also assume it will pass. Crisis averted.. at least in the short term.

5. I think the people should have a say
It's my understanding that this bailout deal includes austerity measures that may significantly impact the poor and the middle class in a negative way.

If that's the case, the people should directly vote on it IMO.

6. In some cases it does not make sense to put a decision to referendum..
such as a critical decision that affect national security and/or stability of a nation. This issue fits into that category in my opinion being a crisis event that impacts the stability of Greece and the entire region for that matter.

7. He is a total douche... used the referendum threat to get the opposition to cave on austerity...
It wasn't about democracy at all.

8. I think he is simply trying to save the country from going into an uncontrolled default.
which he believes would be disastrous for Greece.

9. Austerity is the bigger disaster, but I digress

10. I think austerity will look like a walk in the park if they fail to accept this deal.
It could get very very ugly for the Greek people and for the entire region if they default.
