Thoughts on South Park Occupy show (Cartman 1%) |
|
Every reviewer is saying the same thing, never has Matt and Trey been so direct and so obvious in what they were trying to say, some people here call them Libertarians, but there is no doubt, they are the so far to the right so much party of the republican party, they make Beck look like Michael Moore.
The whole point they were trying to make, is that the protesters dont want to blame a Black President for the worlds trouble so they pick on the 1%.
I watched the whole episode with my mouth open and to think I use to be a huge fan of the show.

3. Actually that was a joke through the show |
|
Cartman is a horrible bigot, just like the tea party, notice he had a "tea party" with his stuffed animals, and I've heard tea baggers say similar things, that we are picking on the rich because we don't want to blame our own people, who they claim are really responsible for all the worlds troubles.

5. They write some of the worst shit I've ever seen in a cartoon. |
|
I wonder if one of them takes a huge crap, then examines the lines and texture for next weeks episode plot. They are hit and miss and when they miss, it is painful to watch. Of course their favorite things are farting and shitting...so what can one expect?

8. How do you think they came up with Mr. Hanky? |
|
They've been juvenile, poorly thought-out nonsense since the show debuted. If they are funny at all, it's because they've thought of a new way to present "ca-ca, wee-wee, poo-poo".

6. Haven't seen it, but that wouldn't surprise me. They lost me after the Afghanistan episode |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-04-11 06:32 PM by DirkGently
... where they 1) pretended the protests against Iraq were about Afghanistan, then 2) whined about "can't we all just root for the same team / go Cows!"
Then there was something about how Atheists eat their poop, and how the whole point of hybrids was to be "smug." Just weird.
Only a show, of course, but they really seemed to start stretching to push some of their sillier views at some point. Just not that funny any more, really.

7. The only person who mentioned not blaming a black president was Cartman. |
|
Carman is and always has been a horrible bigot and is pretty much hated by the other kids in South Park.

Look at how badly they've demonized heroes like Michael Moore and Sean Penn.

and his shitty anti-Semitic movie.
They fuck up Muslims, Catholics and Mormons equally.
They are GREAT Americans in the Twain tradition (not in his league though).

11. I disagree. They use Cartman as the representative of the idiot teabaggers. |
|
They didn't denigrate the OWS at all. They just incorporated the popularity of the movement into the show

15. I thought it was a weak episode |
|
I really don't think Parker and Stone put much effort into this one. I think they wanted to do an episode about Cartman giving up his toys and at the last minute, decided to wrap that story within an OWS frame in order to jive with the show's "current events" schtick.

have to admit it, but I was sad that they didn't do more with the topic. There have been some brilliant episodes of SP- but IMHO, this wasn't one...

21. I think they see themselves as equal opportunity critics |
|
Like the episode where they basically said all the teahadists were just mad because their penises were small.
And I haven't seen the episode yet, but the clip I saw on Fox News today was that there were just two people protesting and a mass of camera crews and media there to cover it. That would've made sense if they were talking about the Tea Party, but for the Occupy movement, which has massive support and participation and had to earn its mainstream media coverage (all negative), they were way off the mark on this one.

in the past several years. It's gotten too raunchy for the broadcast channels that currently air old episodes.
