6. So so glad, we'll be rid of the POS |

although he probably has a "sweet" corporate job lined up, so he ends up better than where he started. The rest of us.... not so much.

They contribution I would have sent to his opponent will now go toward the person running against Ben Nelson.

13. Yep-- the little worm could only pull that last trick once, and he knew it. |
|
Lieberman is the most blatant example of the problem that pervades our political system. These are just a bunch of con-men for the most part, interested only in enriching and empowering themselves and their little supporting enclaves.

15. Which is why we need real term limits.. Over and over, the "vote them out" meme fails |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-18-11 06:27 PM by SoCalDem
I'd like to see :
house seats stretched to 4 yrs..2 terms max senate stay at 6.. 2 terms max
No pension unless they achieve 20 CONSECUTIVE years in congress..
There would be some real "churn" and would discourage the corruption that often comes with "secure" seats.
I would also make it illegal to work as a lobbyist or to sit on any boards of corporations for at LEAST 5 years when they do leave office..
The founders wanted people to come to DC, do their civic duty for a while and then go back to their "real lives".
The aura of statesmanship has been missing for a long time, and won't return anytime soon. When a guy like Kennedy serves as long as he did, and then his seat flips to pretty-boy republican so easily, it's pretty obvious that "the people" are not as bright as we give them credit for..
Term limits make it possible for legislators to vote their consciences, since they pretty much know they will not be there forever, and longer terms would mean that congresspeople would not have to spend so much time fund-raising.

17. This acutally saddens me... |

I was prepping the popcorn for when he ran again, and got blown out of the water by a progressive. Ah, to have tasted the sadness of his tears.
