OMG we just had an earthquake. In KANSAS!! |
|
I felt a shake and I thought my dog was scratching. Looked over and she was sound asleep. Took me a minute to realize what was going on.
DH was at the store sitting in his car and felt it move. He thought it was the wind then he realized there was no wind and the car next to him was shaking too.
A friend in south central KS - about 250 miles from me - just emailed to tell us his house shook HARD.
Shit. This is creepy.

Love you Rhiannon55. We were talking about you and G the other day. We had a critter wandering the neighborhood and it brought back memories of G posting from the basement when you all lived a couple blocks away and his talk about the critters that would visit him. Give the girls a hug from us.

BTW - don't forget that it's not just the number that's important, but also duration, type of wave, soil type and especially the type of construction that determines the true impact.

Fracking? Everyone knows fracking does not cause the earth to shift and groan and occasionally do something like this! :sarcasm:
It is a good guess, I would certainly not bet against it.
Glad it was not worse here. I will be interested to hear tomorrow what, if anything, happened in Oklahoma. Maybe it shifted that creepy cross we saw there from the highway!

There will always be some, but they seem to always be smaller then the larger event. At least in most cases. Here in the bay area, we have many of them every day but most are micro quakes. Occassionally a good sized roller will happen, but not as often as people think.
