Why "Faith Based Organizations?"
What's wrong with "religious organizations?" Why did we need the new term? I can only think of one reason: obfuscation.

This isn't about religion. It is about words and language and political correctness and the intent to bend the truth.

1. PC in the right-wing sense.
CONS complain about PC all the time yet have their OWN language/thought police for example insisting on Christmas instead of holidays then you have Frank Luntz coming up with clever rewordings to attract people to Republican Party such as "death tax" over "estate tax" and "personal account" over "private social security"

3. Is the Salvation Army a religion, or just "faith-based?"
It seems that any time anyone wants a little more attention, or to be taken more seriously, they change the term used to identify themselves. They never seem to make it a shorter term, they always make it longer, and a hyphen in the term makes it seem even more portentious, it would seem.

The people crafting these phrases will also change a term if it devolves into an insult--is "religious" an insult these days?

An example of what I mean is the term "special needs" or "developmentally delayed." It used to be "mentally retarded" before people started using that in an unkind way. Before that, the words moron and idiot were medical terms, now they're just words used to describe many Republicans....
