5. Looks shopped to me.
I blew it up in Photoshop, and there's all kinds of weird pixellation around the cops. It's so bad you can actually see it in the pic on this page without magnifying it.

It's propaganda all right.

7. That can be a result of the image being low-resolution...

10. I know, but its where the pixellation is occuring.
You can see an outline around the cops like they were added to the photo. No pixellation on the outline of the car. It looks weird to me.

15. There's also pixilation in strange places...the car door handle
and wheel well. Even the red circle has pixilation around it. It doesn't make sense

6. This picture was supposedly taken in Iran in 2009.
Edited on Mon Nov-07-11 02:03 AM by zerox
It's definitely not from OWS, as it was around back during the 2009 Iranian election, when protesters there claimed it to be a photo from that unrest. See here: http://rabble.ca/blogs/bloggers/nima-maleki/2009/06/iran-post-election-news-regularly-updated

Also, the car in the photo doesn't really look like anything sold in the US, although I could be wrong.

13. Funny how the word "POLICE" is on the back of each and every one
of their uniforms. Are you sure this picture was taken in Iran??

14. Yes, look at other photos from the 2009 election.
People commented on it then, as well. The Iranian police definitely did print the english word "POLICE" on their uniforms, for whatever reason.

17. That is IF the so callled pictures of the 2009 elections are in fact
the pictures of the 2009 elections.

Seems very odd to me that the word police would be printed in English on Iranian uniforms, so I am not buying that the photos are from Iran.

18. You can buy whatever you want.
There was a huge amount of media coverage on the 2009 Iranian protest, and many, many photos of the Iranian police. There were threads here on DU at the time questioning why the Iranian police were so labeled.

Here's one such thread from back then: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x5853515

And here's a 2009 article from CNN, again with a photo of English-labeled Iranian police: http://am.blogs.cnn.com/2009/06/22/iranian-protestor-plea/

This honestly required about a minute of research, about as much time as it took you to write that post. If you have doubts about something, please try to do just a little looking before posting.

All that aside, there's one other point:
Even if the photo somehow wasn't from Iran, it was obviously being passed around in 2009, well before OWS, right? So why is it being presented as having anything to do with the current protests?

11. So, the OP posts a picture that has nothing to do with OWS and labels it "OWS Propaganda"
and then doesn't stick around to address the truthiness of the image.
