So up is down and down is up ....
Edited on Mon Nov-07-11 06:05 AM by Tx4obama
The world, for me right now, has basically gone crazy.

It's kinda like being high - without even smoking anything.

I spoke with my 73 year old aunt this evening, she live up in the NORTH (Illinois) - I'm down here in the SOUTH (Texas)

Two weeks ago my aunt was in the hospital in the ICU at death's door - but she has now recovered a bit and is at home and BACK to her liberal self.

The conversation (after taking about the usual things such as differences of the weather and how is my dog doing) focused on POLITICS.

We normally talk about what ever is in the headlines of the day.

We both do NOT understand how someone like Texas Governor Perry can stay in the presidential race due to the fact he was either drunk or on drugs during his speech in New Hampshire last week (and she is an expert at knowing what folks look like when they are drunk/high - since she still sorta STILL lives in the 60's --- I've NEVER seen her in anything other than blue jeans in my whole life other than ONE TIME at my grandmother's funeral} and how someone like Herman Cain has been able to retain support from the republican party - THE FAMILY VALUES PARTY - was able to bring in over one million dollars IN ONE DAY after the news of his 'sexual harassment' allegations were brought to the forefront in the media.

Me - I think that America is going to be okay.
My aunt - She thinks that America is going to go into chaos.

THIS to me makes me pause and think: Hmmm...

During my whole life my very LIBERAL, well educated in-touch, aunt has had a handle on what has been happening and NOW she is scared for the future.

I'm just going to rack it up to "she doesn't know what she's talking about cause she's getting old and her meds are f'ing up her mind right now" --- and therefore I will be able to sleep okay tonight.

I DO KNOW that right now we have a Democratic president in the White House that DOES know what HE is doing and WE have the most electable candidate that is in the next race for the presidency and IF there IS a GOD up there he will NOT allow some DUMBASS republican win in 2012!

Obama 2012

1. I am afraid I agree with your Aunt
I lived through the 60's riots (Watts) and Vietnam protests. The ones running congress today really don't seem to care about the country. They are owned by corporations ,bought and paid for. The quest for riches seems to be all that matters to them.

If I could talk my husband into it this old farm would be sold and we would be out of the conutry.

4. Yeah, I sorta agree, but it is the GOP in Congress that doesn't seem to be for America
Edited on Mon Nov-07-11 06:27 AM by Tx4obama

I've seen many Democrats in Congress working for the GOOD of the American people ...
And I think that President Obama will NOT sign any bill that would be disastrous for our country.
The HOUSE has passed some shitty bills and the Senate has NOT passed those

If we had 60+ democratic senators in the Senate and a majority in the House then things would be much different right now.

9. I know there are some great democrats in congress
but when the list came out of 80 or more democrats in congress willing to vote with the super committee to change SS,add chained CPI, change medicare and medicaid it was an eye opener.

5. Back in 2000 and again two more times a few years later when I visited family in Italy ....
I had NO love for The USA and I wanted to move out of the USA for good.

But since the day that Obama became president by view/feelings for America changed and I found a new love for our country and i have changed my opinion.

Perhaps The USA is not perfect but we are much better here than most places around the world :)

2. And.....
Edited on Mon Nov-07-11 06:17 AM by Tx4obama
I would love to hear from the Republican Party about how they can be ...

for individual liberty/freedom --- and at the same time be anti-abortion/anti-birth control/anti-women's rights

for individual liberty/freedom --- and at the same time be anti-gay rights/anti-marriage equality

for pro-life --- and at the same time be against a medical procedure for women in life threatening conditions that would safe the life of a women -

for pro-life --- and also at the same time be anti-government healthcare coverage which helps folks be able to live longer

for family values --- but support candidates that do NOT value the oath of their marriage vows

Etc etc etc

We need to DEMAND that the GOP debates cover these issues !!!

There are SIXTEEN (16) more GOP debates scheduled, so far - so we MUST make sure that the correct questions are asked!

3. I sorta agree with your aunt
You have a mess of candidates running for the GOP nomination that most Republicans wouldn't want as neighbors yet for some weird reason they support at least one of them because they call themselves Republicans. Yet, if someone say Herman Cain was a high school principal that had sexual harassment allegations hanging over his head, someone most likely a conservative would be asking him to resign and they would round up people to make sure he was uncomfortable to say the least. If Michelle Bachmann was a Democrat they would call her a grifter (which she is). If Romney was a called himself a Democrat they would send him flip flops and call him a Breck girl. I don't think they actually like Rick Perry, but they won't admit it. Anyway I dunno I don't think any of them have a chance to win, but who knows maybe Democrats will stay home if things don't get better thus handing the country over to some bat shit crazy Republican. They are all bat shit crazy I really can't say any of them are better or worse than the other.

12. How can you even type that without blushing?
How can the GOP be anti-marriage equality? How can you ask that when Obama is also opposed to marriage equality? 'God is in the Mix!' and all. I am so sick of that tactic. It is dishonest and fucked.

14. You do understand that none of those things really means anything to Republicans
Only winning......They will forgive ANYTHING of their candidate if only they will WIN...There truly is no rational thought that goes into being a Republican...It is very typical Cult Behavior...

13. If it weren't for the Arab Spring, the Wisconsin popular backlash and OWS
I would definitely agree with your aunt. But I think the swing of the pendulum is changing direction.
