Tennessee Principal Suspends Gay Teen for Wearing Make-Up
Lexington High School Principal Steve Lindsey suspended gay student Kasey Landrum for wearing make-up, and now Landrum and his mother are speaking out, WBBJ reports:

"I'm very upset about it because he can't be who he wants to be," said Shelly Maness, Kasey Landrum's mother. "When I went to register him, about the make-up, he (Lindsey) reminded us Kasey was not to be wearing any," she adds.

The suspension form obtained by Maness cited her son was suspended on the basis he violated the school's dress code which states: "When a student is attired in a manner, which is likely to cause disruption or interference with normal operation of the school, the administration will take the appropriate action. In matters of opinion, the judgment of the teachers and administrators will prevail."

Landrum says the make-up has not been a distraction to anyone, and students and teachers have been supportive, but the situation at school is having a larger impact on him.

2. When I was in high school that rule was applied to girls wearing jeans.
"When a student is attired in a manner, which is likely to cause disruption or interference with normal operation of the school, the administration will take the appropriate action. In matters of opinion, the judgment of the teachers and administrators will prevail."

It can mean anything they want. Ridiculous then and now.

4. Where is this principal when I need him?
Can he come ban all the little girls in our K-8 from wearing make-up? Is he an equal-opportunity make-up hater, or?

It's usually amusing to watch my 6th - 8th grade girls stumbling around with make-up, going from none to clown faces, and finally settling into some kind of consistency. They don't need make-up. They are young girls who are beautiful without it, and I despise the culture that conditions them to think their own face isn't good enough without enhancement. Still, I understand, and if my boys wanted to wear make-up, I wouldn't make an issue of it.

The young girls in K-3, though, whose moms already make them up every day...
