Is Gloria Allred getting involved really the best strategy? |
|
One has to admit that she is a very polarizing figure and has been known to be an opportunist. I'm sure there are other excellent attorneys out there with a talent for representing women who have been sexually harassed. Why choose her?
With such a high profile lawyer involved it allows the Cain apologists to make the story about her, rather than Herman Cain's lack of character.

3. Divisive figure is divisive |

She will serve to strengthen the polarization that is already in place.

4. I'm not sure how well she is known she is outside of Southern |

Califronia. When I lived there, I followed her career to some extent and found her to be consistent and principled. For example, she took on cases of gender discrimination against men, something some feminists were not prepared to do. I always thought she found a way to frame a controversy in a way that illusrated the core issues from a perspective of gender equality.

5. I imagine that the female in question will be villified and Allred will protect her |
|
She will not let Cain continue to bash the females without response. She may be divisive, but it is because she steps into situations that are already divisive.

7. I think Allred is effective in handling both the press and blowback criticism. |
|
Big difference if I were the attorney in this situation and Allred.

8. Um, divisive is what trial lawyers DO, isn't it? Take sides? What do you want from her? |
|
Kumbaya? Give me a break. Politics is a contact sport. She's good at it.
