Two days old.

Care to check the weather?

Yup...media is manipulating you,

For the record I did have curmudgeon go at it locally, as expected, until I brought Dubya defacing it. But it just dawned on me. T-shirt weather...really.

We call that AstroTurf.

1. I'm up here in Fort Collins
And was wearing a T-shirt on Saturday. The sun was out. This is Colorado - it can be 20F at night and back up into the 50s by noon.

Not that the media wouldn't lie...

6. Yeah but most are wearing heavier.
That's the point. I could have given you a photo of guy with no shoes in the rain in sd. But the rest wore heavier clothes.

3. Yeah, I wondered about that, too
It's cold as a titch's wit here in NM. I can't believe it would be warmer 400 miles north in Denver, not that much warmer.

I hope someone IDs that photo. My guess is that they're not in the US.

Denver was getting snow on the supposed date of the pic.

9. There is a BIGGER problem with that shot --
Edited on Mon Nov-07-11 04:14 PM by Hell Hath No Fury
It's not a flag they are standing on. It is an object that is SIMILAR to an American flag, but it is not a flag. Look at the placment of the stars -- we have not had that placement since, what, what Alaska or Hawaii became States? Also, the stars are not pure white -- there is red and blue present in them.

How do we know this wasn't a beach blanket or other cloth item put down on the ground for sitting?? Are these people really "stamping on an Amrican flag" or are they instead dancing on a blanket they had been sitiing on prior?

On edit: Look at the people in the shot -- not the young man and the older wopamn in the forefront, the others. Knees bent, hands raised in a "raise the roof" sign, big smiles, happiness on faces -- looks more to me like folks enjoying some good music.

This image is being used to create an inflamitory myth, plain and simple.

17. It's a flag
Edited on Mon Nov-07-11 04:36 PM by Mr Gerrity
An old one, and decorated one, but it is a flag and this is clearly part of the protest, (not just some joyful dancing). Let's leave the conspiracy theories to the Freepers.

He the kid in the neighborhood that just likes to play dress-up. He's got an awesome Green Lantern costume, but somehow the ninja seemed more appropriate for a protest.

31. You're right.
The Denver office of the FBI gets a flag from 1959, splatters it with paint and other symbols, and then hires a couple of dumb kids to dance on it. It's a brilliant plan in it's simplicity. Or a few overenthusiastic protesters go a little too far (Occam's razor). But I will yield to your expertise on yet another subject that only you have secret knowledge.

25. It's an older flag, and a nice stitched one, too.
From the close-up pictures it appears to be a cotton flag with 48 stars, stitched together instead of screen-printed.

It was probably somebody's grandparents flag that they found folded up in a garage or something.

18. What I notice about the photo.....
Edited on Mon Nov-07-11 04:38 PM by Avalux
The flag on the ground (which doesn't look like an actual flag) has an anarchy sign spraypainted on the stars....

Independent of your post, I thought there was something off about the photo anyway; and was used by the media because of the 'flag'.

Edited on Mon Nov-07-11 04:57 PM by ProdigalJunkMail
as the star pattern is wrong...but that doesn't change the sentiment. why wouldn't some of the people at these rallies dance on the flag? there are people of all stripes and gripes there (gripes is not meant to be a pejorative...it just rhymed)...

29. I don't see any problem or manipulation -
- the flag could be about anything. Could be old - could be a beach blanket - could be a homemade rug or something. Not an issue, IMO.

As far as the t-shirt - my son walks out of here daily in a t-shirt when its almost freezing. The young have a tendency to do that. Notice that everyone - including the guy in the t-shirt - has on long pants. I'm betting he had on a hoodie or something and got hot while dancing and moving about and just took it off.

I don't see any manipulation here. Just someone working up a sweat.
