George Will says it's good that people are losing their public sector jobs
Edited on Mon Nov-07-11 05:39 PM by marmar

.....(snip).....

CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR: Let me turn to you George and ask you about the unemployment numbers. Is that something of a trend or is that scratching the surface? What difference is that going to make?

WILL: Not much. First of all, 80,000 isn’t nearly enough to accomodate even the natural growth month by month of the workforce. There are two bits of good news in there. The 80,000 is a net number. The private sector created 104,000 jobs. The public sector happily shrank by 24,000 jobs. Both of that’s good. ...........(more)

The complete piece is at: http://www.alternet.org/newsandviews/article/721563/george_will_on_public_sector_job_losses%3A_%E2%80%98that%E2%80%99s_good%E2%80%99/

4. Ordinarily, I wouldn't agree with him
But I can think of just one more job that needs to be lost. And that would be a real good loss.

5. Private sector jobs are far superior to public sector jobs from a fiscal standpoint.
Someone in the private sector has to make the money that the public employee gets paid.

10. OK, net out the taxes that the public employee pays
The private sector has to make up the difference with the taxes it pays. Where do you think governments get money to pay their employees?

8. Well, then maybe we public sector teachers should...
...just stay home from school and let those private sector employees pay for daily child care. :sarcasm:

13. That would be great. There would be no reason to pay school tax...
and no reason to oppose vouchers. I'd be fine with that.

19. Babysitter math.
$3 per hour per kid x 6 hoirs a day x 180 days per year = 3240 per year per kid x 30 kids = about $97,000 per year or about double the national average pay. And of course that doesn't include any infrastructure so I'm assuming that you will also be donating your house for class, no?

11. You're completely and totally wrong.
The private sector gets its money from the government sector spending, not the other way around.

18. Given the amount o companies on the public tit, that is a good point.
If you add to that the number of companies that pay zero taxes...

12. The Reich is all about their secular state religion.
According to their nonsensical doctrine just about all jobs should be through the private sector (which is why everything must be privatized) and all government jobs are a drag on the private sector.
