Defense budget doubled since 9/11 yet ...

My daughter who is married to a US Marine tells me that just about everyone that is an E-5 or below who has children is on the WIC program.

In other words, military pay isn't enough to support a wife and one child.

All the money allocated for the defense dept is either going for the corporate wars in Iraq/Afghanistan or its going toward profiteers in the military procurement process for the next generation war toys.


On edit: I suppose the military has taken a page out if the Walmart playbook on paying sub-standard wages and directing people to the welfare office.
